Congratulations Calvin, well deserved!

I wonder how many voted for CJ without ever seeing him catch a ball. Sorry.

Everyone knows what a talent he is. I too am suprised that he gets the recognition that he does without all the stats and figures. Not to flame anyone, but just think what his stats would be like at a school where they made more of an effort to throw to him, or were able to hit him in stride? He SHOULD be a legitimate Heisman candidate, but I just dont see him getting enough touches.

In the last 70 YEARS ONLY 3 TRUE WR'S have won the heisman. It is possible that a GREAT QB would overshadow CJ. Look at Leinart/Bush we will not know how good either really are until they are in the pros.

CJ is a TRUE SOPHMORE at GT and getting INCREDIBLE RECOGNITION. They were SPOTLIGHTING him during the ABC broadcast. It is possible if he were at a "bigger" school he would get lost in the shuffle.

Don't cry for CJ he is being recognized as a 1st team all-american as a true sophomore. I think Reggie and company have an assist in the accomplishment.

Last time I checked football was a team sport.

While I appreciate all of CJ's accomplishments TOO MANY people want to dump on the rest of GT when discussing CJ's highlights.

Good grief...half the passes called for him are thrown away...and many times he is wide open as a 2nd read...but our QB cannot get past the 1st read (then throws it away).

EVEN WITH ALL OF THAT....he is 2nd in the ACC in receptions and essentially tied for the lead in yardage(only 2 yards behind the leader).

I don't believe this at all. As talented as he is, he would start, and stand out at any school in the nation.

I think you are being waaaaay too defensive of the team and not looking at things objectively. I am not trying to bash anyone, and I certainly understand the nature of a team sport. Calvin has a great supporting cast that surrounds him. I love how hard this team has fought, and how well they've played together and overcame such obsticles. I think it's great that he has this incredible recognition, but my point, and maybe it didn't need to be made, was that I don't feel we have really seen his true potential just yet. I don't think anyone can argue with that...

I would give Reggie an assist too. Without Reggie's slight inaccuracies on the passes to Calvin which actually stay in bounds, the voters wouldn't get to see Calvin make those amazing catches so often. If the passes were dead on then CJ wouldn't stand out so much.

GTfan - as an argument though, if the passes were dead on, he would have a lot more catches, and our record would definitely not be the same right now, which in turn may have still caused him to stand out and be recognized...

I was only joking. Lawbee said it like Reggie deserves credit for Calvin making 1st Team All-American, when in reality Calvin WOULD have been at least considered for the Heisman had he been catching balls from Lil' Joe or Godsey.
