Miami and F$U typically have decent talent there (UGA, too, for that matter) but none of the 3 teams have done anything on the field so far to prove it. UNC is supposed to have a good line this year - but are they better than Clemson?

By the way, did anyone watch the game and think - "man, I wish Brandon Thompson had chosen GT"? Dude was a beast.

I think that they very well could be. You can't take anything away from them. They're a great Defensive Team with a helluva lot of talent

Obviously this got thrown around a ton just after our game. IMO it's way to early to tell and anyone who says this is simply blowing up our opponent to make our win look better.

The fact is that our OL played pretty poorly.

Definitely the best line. The DEs will be first round picks.

UNC:

Mel Kiper has Junior Marvin Austin rated as the #3 junior DT in the country.
He has Quan Sturdivant as the #2 junior ILB in the country and Bruce Carter as the #3 junior OLB in the country.

He has also DT Cam Thomas (Senior)...and DE's EJ Wilson (Senior) and Robert Quinn (Soph) as prospects to watch.

Soph. DT Tydreke Powell will be an NFL draft pick one day as well.

Their ends, especially Bowers (beast!) were able to play the dive and the QB. Their tackles just ate up everything inside. That's why we went to a bunch of midline in the fourth, changing the read from the end to the interior guys.
Clemson's front four is damn good.

Too soon to say best. But I think they'll be in the top 3 or 4 pretty easily.

I agree with you. I'm not quite sure since I didn't look at the media guide.

But aren't they upperclassmen with the exception of Sapp. he's a true soph and true badass. he had a lot of PT last year and really impressed.

I think their entire line came back if I'm not mistaken, I just don't know their Class Status.

if they are seasoned, it may not be as much of our Line playing poorly but instead just being beat by a good Def Front.

But yes, it's very early to tell....and we really need to man up and start Sumo Pushing some folks or we could be in for a Rude Awakening

Sapp is a Senior
Bowers is a Sophomore
Thompson is a Sophomore
Jenkins is a Junior

Just watched the game again. Their line was good, but there were still a lot of missed reads/blocks that had nothing to do with their skills, but rather missed reads/assignments. Now... Was their line better than we will see? Maybe, but the bottom line is that if we execute I don't think that anyone can consistently stop us... I was actually relieved by the fact that it was mainly our mistakes that hampered us. Not saying that they didn't shut us down from time to time, but that is football.

Is Quan Sturdivant the brother of the guy at UGA, or am I way off in thinking huskers and huskies are the same thing?

That's right...i got Bowers and Sapp mixed up

They all played and started last year too if I'm not mistaken with the exception of Bower's Every Game????

Either way no matter how you slice it's a talented and Big....305,305, 275 and 245

275 across the front and 6'3 avg

I believe so. The guy that played a lot at DE is Kevin Alexander and he was beat out by Bowers. They also have a great FR in Goodman. They are burning his RS.

That is a stocked defense there. Hopefully, if nothing else, Clemson was the best disciplined D we'll face all year. Miami and FSU look too jumpy with their D's speed.
