Not only did he have him kick it, but from my vantage point in section 218 (best section in the stadium), it appeared that a coach POINTED to where to kick the ball - and couldn't they tell that they had no one fooled since Tarrant was standing back there? Just freakin' genius of Clempsom to have your FG kicking team, stocked with the slow blocking type of players, trying to cover a punt.
I have a feeling that this is why they hired him to begin with. A good, proven coach wants money. $10 a year ain't going to cut that.I think the beginning of the end was the game against us. That second quarter was probably the best example of being outcoached I have ever seen. The reason I do not see them firing Swinney soon is money, though. They built the West End Zone for $55M a few years ago and up until at least last year it was not paid for. The school has money, but they have done a ton of athletic-facility improvements over the past ten years. I would not be surprised to see him around next year--then he's gone.
