Have at it boys. I think this game will be one of the major keys to our season. I feel like FSU, GT, and Clemson are the 3 best teams in the league.

Axe...

as always my friend your assessment is very close to my own. However I really think Clemson will struggle mightily trying to find a running game this year. Dantzler provided som much of that he past two seasons and he is a much better runner than all accounts of Simmons have been. If Clemson has trouble finding that ground game early then they could have some very long games and find that porous defense giving up big chunks of yardage/points.

I look for GT to finally end the "3-point jinx" these teams have shared the past six seasons. Look for Tech to win 42 - 28.

Why? Simply put Tech has two mulligan games before Clemson while Clemson gets tested early. This gives Tech time to get the offense in sync while Clemson will very likely suffer an early season loss to the pups. Which will erode the confidence of a certain new starting QB.

I honestly have to disagree about Clemson. I find them no better than 5th in the ACC. FSU, MD, NCSU, GT & UVa have more talent IMHO. The only thing seperating Clemson from UVa is Simmons. I think Clemson is overmatched at most skilled positions, with the exception of WR and QB. They lack size and speed at OL, DL & LB.

It's sad that Clemson gets a shot at Uga when they have one of their least talented squads. The days of Ford & Hatfield are long gone. Clemson hasn't had a typical Clemson team since 1991. I have found only one pre-season magazine that has them higher than 45th nationally.

I think this is a 6-6 or 7-5 bunch of Tigers in 2002. But that's just my opinion, and you know what opinions are worth.

I think that Ramblin Buzz is underrating Clemson simply due to the fact that it is on the road. If it were at BDS@HGF, I would feel a lot better about the game. Playing and winning in DV will not be an easy task; IF Clemson loses to Ugag (which I think they will), they play Louisana Tech and then us. Coming up after GT is @ F$U and UVA, IIRC. Therefore, coming into our game at 1-1 is a MUST win situation for them.

Given this, I am glad that they are our 3rd game of the year. Let Suggs get comfortable and let the o-line gel. I think that we are a better team than Clemson, but they have a good advantage w/their WR's vs. our DB's, plus the homefield advantage. Will be fun...

Hey there GT98, you braine-kisser, gold smoke glasses freak

, I didn't say anything about our game up there being easy for us. I think we should win, but it's rare we go up there and win big (once?). I do think they are down though. If the game was here, I'd say we should win by 14+. Up there, maybe 7+.

What I should have said in my post is that YOU will be doing most of the driving up there since it is a Noon kickoff for TV (ESPN, IIRC). I'll get in touch w/my friend who is an IPTAY guy and check out our parking arrangements.

Still, I have you marked down as a "BIG BLOWOUT WIN..." since you think that we will have positive leadership somewhere on the field. After all, we're due, right?

Thanks for the preview, Axe. I'm going on record as saying this is the year we break the 3 point streak, and win by more than that. To me the only area where they are better than us is receiver, and even there it isn't by a whole bunch.

3 of my cousins go to Clem's Son (we're a big ACC type of family), so I need to be able to talk some smack to them.

Good preview, Axe. I think the score is reasonable.

The really frustrating thing about playing a team like Clemson is that even when you have them beaten at the line of scrimmage (like we did in '00 and '01), they still have seemed to hang in there with us. Once again, I see an advantage for us at the line. The question is, will our defense adjust to what they are doing and slow them down? Those receivers really scare me...alot. But, as was pointed out by AJ on the Hive, we've upgraded our defensive coaching.

I'm with you on this prediction. Tech will win this game. We really HAVE to win this game.

I don't want to hear this crap that Clemson is "down". They were suppose to be "down" last year, but they beat us in our own house. Clemson gives GT a tough game every year no matter what the circumstances. We've only beaten CU bad one time the last 20 years(30-14 in 1989, one of my all time favorite & most satisfying GT victories ever recorded). The outcome of this game will determine the outcome of GT's season.
