Does having closed practices where the players aren't under the scrutiny of fans and reporters have any impact on our players' psyche/nerves in actual games?
I just can't imagine some of the players playing in games (no less starting games) if they make as many fundamental mistakes during practices as they've made in games.
It's really a mystery.
