Coach G did just fine in his \' turning pt 3rd yr\'

In our previous discussion about the 3rd season being the turning point for the 4 previous GT Head Coaches, ( link here ), it was pointed out that 3 of the HCs took a step up their 3rd season & stayed @ Tech to have much better years. The 4th GT HC took a major nosedive his 3rd yr & was outta here. Well, Coach Gailey has moved into the circle of HCs going forward!
To compare: Coach Curry was 6-5 in 3rd season, up from 1-10, but it took til Curry's 6th yr to get his 1st Bowl with a 9-2-1 overall record. Lost to Ga 3rd straight season. Coach Ross jumped to 7-4 (& didn't get a Bowl), up from 3-8, & beat Ga after 2 losses. In his 4th yr went 11-0-1. Coach O'Leary stepped up from 5-6 to 7-5 & got his 1st Bowl, beating W.Va in the Carquest. Lost to Ga for 3rd straight yr. O'L's 4th season was 10-2 with a Notre Dame spanking in the Gator Bowl.
Coach Gailey had an almost carbon copy of Coach O'Leary's 3rd season. Coach G finished 7-5, went to a minor Florida Bowl beating a decent, name team (Syracuse) & lost to Ga for the 3rd straight time. Coach Chan inched his record up from 7-6 to 7-5 & anyone would have to say that he is right in line with Curry, Ross & O'Leary.
Perhaps, right now is a tad too early to say much bad about our HC &, perhaps, right now is the time to feel that HC Gailey is moving forward slightly. We all felt real good about Curry, Ross & O'Leary after their 3rd seasons, which Chan has mirrored or bettered.
It'll be interesting to see if Gailey can reach the euphoric heigths of the 4th season of the Ross & O'Leary eras, but let's face it, no one saw those monster years coming either. There's certainly no reason to say that Chan Gailey can't do it. He's in real good company after his 1st 3 years. Perhaps, we should all hope he is capable as we won't know for sure, anyway, until Chan gets his shot at the 'big' 4th season.
