as the Tenuta+Giff combo, IMO. He's completely turned around our special teams unit, and he is one of our best recruiters. Hope CPJ keeps him on staff.

Our kick coverage this season was an unbelievable turnaround from the past few seasons. By about midseason I had completely lost that feeling of impending terror I had every time we kicked off the past few years.
 
Coach Kelly is important, but not nearly as critical as our recruiting specialist or defensive mastermind. Giff IMO is the most important to prevent an exodus and because recruiting at Tech is difficult and requires skills that very few people have. CJT would ensure we don't skip a beat on the field and ensure CPJ has time to adjust his offense.

I really like Charles Kelly and hope he stays for a several reasons... this year was our first decent season at ST (Durant Brooks and Travis Bell may have played a part) after Kelly had a year under his belt, and keeping him is very important.
 
Coach Kelly is important, but not nearly as critical as the two really good kickers we had, who could seriously put some air under the ball in contrast to our kickers of 2 years ago.

Fixed.

Our ST problems were always that our kickers sucked. Then we got a punter as a JUCO transfer and everything changed. I'm reasonably pleased with our new kickoff guy - he seems pretty good. We need a punter for next year though.
 
Our coverage game improved dramatically last year, partly scheme IMO and quite a bit due to the kickers. Our return game still sucks though. Not so much on punts, but KO returns are just ridiculously bad most of the time.

our punter next year is probably Jr-R Mohammed Yahiaoui. He redshirted this year to focus on nothing but becoming a better punter as it appears Scott Blair will take over the PK duties full-time from Travis Bell.
 
well I hope Yahiaoui learned some things from watching Brooks...& I hope Brooks took some time to mentor Yahiaoui or even introduced him to Ray Guy...Has Yahiaoui improved due to the redshirt year? Brooks was such a WEAPON this year...he got us out of several bad situations & was so accurate...gonna miss him...Hope he lands on a good team in the NFL.

Maybe, but just as with our PR game, we're not a threat for a big return. I would bet that our returns clustered around our average on both.

Arnt was a good punter. Remember the punt he had against Miami in 05?
 
Arnt was an unreliable, streaky punter, who often did good things but who's hangtime seriously needed work, which made our coverage team look bad pretty regularly.
