Obviously, he's going to be sticking around for a little while. I read where a recruit or two said that he was the reason that they came here. I would think that he would not talk SA's into coming here with the intention of leaving. That is a good sign.
If you do the math. A mil for Gailey and maybe around 750 for Tenuta and we're spending 1.75 for our Head Coach(es). Pretty good to get 2 for the price that many schools are spending on one.
Gailey HAS to open it up this year and throw in some reverses, Half-back passes, etc. to kip D's honest and liven up our bland O.
Have we ever even ATTEMPTED a fake FG or Punt on his watch?

Happens all the time, we're lucky every year we have Tenuta pretty much from here on out. We probably wouldn't have him now if we hadn't finished the season with the Utah disaster. His job right now is to recruit and develop our kids, so thats what he's doing, but as soon as a good HC offer comes his way, we can't blame him for taking it.

Peck, do you know for a fact that he is interested in being a HC? Maybe he just loves coaching the D and doesn't want to screw with the othe tasks that a HC has to do. If he is making a good living and he and his family is happy in Atlanta, why not stick around quite awhile? Evidently he and Gailey get along together.

Yeah, attempted a fake punt twice, I believe a coupla years ago IIRC.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure GO'L never attempted a fake FG or punt. (Don't read anything into that, I'm just sayin'!)

I do not know personally if he wants to be a HC, he may be perfectly happy being DC at Tech as long as we'll have him. I'm just saying that we're lucky to have him, and he's not going to tell a kid he is recruiting "I'll only be here for another season or two at most"

Seems it's only a matter of time before the national attention Tenuta's been receiving will have someone calling. Just gotta hope it's no place too appealing. Hope he stays for many more years and succeeds CG.

We don't need none of this fruity, trick crap. We need to realize that we run the ball well, so keep doing it, while only throwing easy completions. We try more 1-in-a-million passes than any running offense I've ever seen. And we seem to always do it on 3rd-and-2 or something when we've been averaging 6+ yards per carry that game. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif Pound the ball and throw 15 yard slant routes to CJ. That's how we're gonna win ball games, not by attempting a fake FG once a game.
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rant.gif OK, sorry I got side tracked.

Not to deviate from the topic of the thread but I must ask BerryGT. Easy completions? Nothing is easy for our QB, for 3 years he has completed less than 50% of his passes, for 3 years he has had more INT's than TD's. So please tell me about those easy completion passes.

OK back on track

As far as the offense I could not agree more. For the past three years, I've been so frustrated that we didn't stay with the run. We rarely if ever run the ball two downs in a row. Or at least run the ball, then do a screen, etc. We abandon the run when we are doing it so well.

As our offensive line improves this fall, we should pound, pound, pound, throw to CJ, and pound some more. Period.

That is what our ball control, not wear the defense out game plan demands.

Thanks for letting me share.

Yeah, I know what you mean OldFoggy. Your actually making part of my point, I should have worded it different and not used "easy". My point is that even though he isn't accurate they still make him try to make tough passes which he can't do except once in a blue moon. They should have the receivers run routes that make it easier on Ball. It won't make him an all-american or anything but I think they could get the pct. up to 55% atleast if they didn't run pass plays that put soo much on the QB.

Sorry, I took us /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/offtopic.gif

Actually JT has said before that he would be interested in being an HC. But I also think he has said that he doesn't want to be an HC just anywhere so I don't think he would leave GT to be HC at Lenoir-Rhyne, for example (very extreme example and no offense to any alums of that fine school). I think it would take a really good offer from a school that has a really good opportunity to be a perennial top 25 team. So I didn't see him as a probability for the Idaho job as another example. But what if a Michigan State job opened up (and that is PURELY hypothetical) then he might be interested and I wouldn't blame him a bit.

I would also like to point out that I think it is pretty clear that if he is interested in being a HC somewhere that he definitely believes that the best way to accomplish that goal is to be the absolute BEST DC he can at GT and I LOVE that.

Ralph Friedgen was the same way. He said a number of times that he was interested in HC opportunities. He also made it clear that the way he felt he could best achieve that goal was to be the best OC he could at GT. Made for some pretty exciting offenses just like JT has made some pretty exciting defenses at GT.

This is evidenced by his interest in the Ohio U position but withdrawing himself from it after initial talks (job went to Frank Solich)
