Coaches Poll is out; Jackets are #20

Also #20 in AP, as well as 20 in the ESPN poll (have no idea if this one means anything) and 20 in BCS.

FYI: Unless I missed something, the AP and coaches poll are identical thru #21 except for the #9, #10 flip flop of Cal and ND.

To finish the season we need to win the next three as expected. We would be ranked about 15th I am guessing. If the dawgs beat UK but lose to Auburn they will remain unranked. When was the last time we entered the game ranked and they weren't? 1990 would be my guess.

Having GT ranked at #20 seems about right for now, especially after reviewing the rankings. Of the five ranked ACC teams, I think BC should be up a little higher, bunched in with LSU and Arkansas.

If GT defeats NC St, UNC and Duke then I can see a top 15 ranking going into UGA. If this plays out then perhaps with a win against the Dawgs GT could see the top 12, which would be good going into the ACC c-ship game.

I am content with our ranking now, but one thing I do not understand is how USC(West) only drops to #9 after losing to an unranked Oregon State? Okay so Florida loses to #12 Auburn and drops 7 places to #9 but USC(West) loses to unranked Oregon State and only drops 6 places to #9, can somebody explain that to me? :wtf:

losing to an unranked team looks like a fluke and isnt usually punished as much as losing to a team thats legitimate but that you're supposed to meet. Seems the voters by default figure that you showed up and just got beat by an inferior (on paper) team and adjust the rankings accordingly. Ive seen it happen numerous times.

Also, off the top of your heads, how man of the teams ahead of us still have to lose (play other teams ranked ahead)? I can think USC/ND, and Mich/OSU, and Im guessing theres a few others but cant think of right now, that will do a lot to affect our poll rankings moe than anything, but finishing out with a 5 game winning steak would do a LOT to get us up there.

I think when we beat them (UGA) 3 in a row we were ranked a couple of times and they weren't. IF we take care of business there will be some upsets along the way. If were by some miracle 12-2, we could be top 5 at least.

Sure, I will be happy to. It is because most everyone in the country dislikes UF as much as you dislike UM.

Just Kidding! ;)

Actually, I would think that SC is getting the mulligan they have earned. Florida is still rebuilding its reputation after the Zook era.
If this was the prime time Spurrier years, you would be getting even more love than UF is getting now. Florida played a listless second half after getting up 21-0 yesterday.
That's the way I see it.

oldgold ....

they were ranked each time we beat them during the latest 3IAR,B. A couple of times they were ranked below us but they were in the rankings.

Perhaps because they're a really good football team?
