Georgia Tech 35 ... Troy 20
It took a while for Georgia Tech to put Troy away with three fourth quarter touchdown runs including a 13-yard dash from Jamaal Evans to finally put things out of reach. Troy hung around with a one-yard Omar Haugabook touchdown run and a 25-yard scoring pass to Gary Banks, but the Tech offensive line pounded away in the fourth quarter to take control of the game. Tech QB Reggie Ball ran for a school-record, for a quarterback, 130 yards and threw a 55-yard touchdown pass to James Johnson.
Player of the game ... Georgia Tech QB Reggie Ball completed 12 of 29 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns with two interceptions and ran 16 times for 130 yards.
Stat Leaders: Troy - Passing: Omar Haugabook, 18-32, 182 yds, 1 TD, 2 INT
Rushing: Kenny Cattouse, 18-69 Receiving: Gary Banks, 8-104, 1 TD
Georgia Tech - Passing: Reggie Ball, 13-29, 164 yds, 2 TD, 2 INT
Rushing: Reggie Ball, 16-130 yds. Receiving: James Johnson, 3-74, 1 TD
Whoopty doo. What does it all mean Basil? ... For the first time this year, Reggie Ball started to show off his running skills. Troy's defense couldn't handle the Tech senior when he started to get on the move and it changed the game. Ball's passing struggled in a big way having problems trying to get the ball to Calvin Johnson. Fortunately, James Johnson is starting to step up in the role as the number two man. The defense is better than is showed against Troy and could use a dominant showing against Virginia next week before going to Blacksburg on September 30th.
