Collins vs pastner debate

This debate is rediculus, I’ll leave its own thread for it. Basketball and football are two wayyy different sports. Football is a mix of good coaching and good talent not saying basketball isn’t that way but when you can get superstar players you can win look at jordan early in his carrer or Lebron in the second round at cleveland you don’t think there were better coaches, no ööööing contest but they still won so this is a retarded ass debate. We should’ve hired wisenhunt maybe we can as OC
 
Pastner year 2 vs. Collins year 2 might be a fair comparison, but really I think we need more data.

Year 1 isn't a fair comparison because Pastner inherited an NBA player in Okogie. The football equivalent of that would be to inherit like 3 or 4 NFL players, and our talent level wasn't there when Collins started. So Pastner's greater success year 1 might have been due to more talent. I don't know how a year 2 comparison would look.

Pastner seems to me like the better X's and O's coach. He says things that jibe with me, like only playing the best 6-7 guys, and playing guys even when they're in foul trouble instead of ending the game with fouls to give. Collins has a mindset though of everyone having a role and lots of people rotating in. He cares more about fostering his "culture" than doing what is tactically optimal. To him the punt team gunners are the most important players on the team. Maybe in the long term his culture will pay off but definitely not so far. And "position flexibility" is questionable--to me it sounds like not focusing on your job and being subpar at several things.
 
Also the disastrous losses to Citadel, Temple, Clemson, Northern Illinois, and UGA are together way more embarrassing than Ron Bell. Ron Bell doesn't go in the record books.

They both suck. But who sucks worse? The 14 million dollar question.

So you're saying he's Ted Lasso? I like Ted Lasso. He's a great guy. But he got Richmond relegated and should have been fired for that.
