IMO, Steve's whole narrative on "you shouldn't say things that might make a player or recruit mentally squeamish" is a bit silly. This is a terrible litmus test for which to judge content.

In Steve's world, would he rather have CPJ either ignore or lie about the current realities of the college football landscape? That certainly does Tech no good, sports or otherwise.
