Just FYI everyone….GT is not eligible for the Humanitarian Bowl. Been
there within the last 3 years. ACC retains rights to alter bowl picks to
place teams to where they don’t have to make west coast trips to the
same bowl within a 3 year span.

Read this on an AJC blog in the comments

The game was in 2004, but it was January 2004 so it was the bowl game for the 2003 season. I'd never heard of the rule mentioned above but it makes sense. This is the last year the ACC has a tie-in with the Humanitarian Bowl, so hopefully the Jackets are done with Boise for a long time.

For what it's worth, I remember the Gator Bowl using the option of taking Clemson over us in 2000 even though we had beaten them because we had been there two years running.

..and that may have prompted the rule.

So yay for no Humanitarian Bowl. Are we exempt from the Oakland Broken Lawnmower Bowl too?
That bowl game is funded nation-wide by crack sales. I imagine the arrests in Athens this summer mean that it's inaugural game will also be it's last.
