Congrats To Coach Curry

Congratulations to Coach Curry for a well deserved honor. He is one of those highly visibly individuals who show what Tech is all about.

As far as your AD comments, while Bill loves Tech and would have brought a commitment that few could match, I think we made the best possible decision when filling that position. Bill is a great example of a Tech man, but he's not D-Rad.

Yes, Bill Curry is certainly worthy of such an esteemed honor and I congratulate him. I was one who was really pulling for him to get the AD job, still would liked to have seen him in the position. That being said, GT has made an excellent choice in Rad and he will do a fantastic job.

I have a question. If 'Suitcase' Bill (I'm a traveling man) Curry was named AD of Ga. Tech and some school like, say, Alabama came along and offered him a bigger cigar, do you think he would abandon us FOR THE SECOND TIME?

Probably would, for a big enough cigar.

But then again, Rad left LSU for GT, so what's the point.

Most all people, given the opportunity for a better deal will take it. I'm not sure understand your suggestion.

Somebody asked just the other day who still holds a grudge against Curry. Well, here's one for you.

Dude - it was over 20 years ago. LET...IT...GO.

Nope I don't think Bill would ever have left again if he had been hired as AD.

Is this Darnell the Dawg?

We made a good decision with D Rad and he is doing a great job. But, hell, he's just reading our StingTalk archived threads and doing what what we suggested.

However well D Rad is doing doesn't mean BC wouldn't have done just as well.

Just to be clear on the subject!!

I definitely was behind Bill Curry for the AD job when it came up.

But, he didn't get it and it went to a man that I was not very familiar with from LSU.

To my knowledge, the new AD has already done, is now, and will continue to do a fantastic job.

Saying that, I'll also say that he has my total support as long as he keeps Ga Tech's best interest at heart and, I believe that Bill Curry would say the same thing if he were asked. .

Sooooo, for now, I'm saying ... keep up the good work Dan, the AD man. We're behind you 100%.

I guess I shoud apologize. So in the spirit of Dick Turbin, "If anyone is offended, I am sorry." No, I am not a dog. You can Google my name and Ga Tech class of 68. I graduated in Electrical Engineering. I have only been to Athens twice, once in 68, the other in 84. We split those 2 games. The comparison with Rad is not relevant, in my opinion. Rad was not the AD at LSU.

I don't think Bill would have done a bad job, rw1. Just that he would have had something of a learning curve since he hasn't been an AD while D-Rad came straight from and asst. position. Also he's younger and maybe is planning on being here a while?

You can google me - class of 66 in Electrical Engineering. The comparison to Rad is not valid IMO. Rad was not the AD @ LSU. He did not make a lateral move.

But, as I said, he came directly from an asst or associate AD position where he had direct responsibility for several sports including budgets and scheduling. Bill has never worked in an athletic department except as a coach as far as I know. Why would that comparison not be valid?

I too got on the BC bandwagon, but as soon as the dust settled I knew we had the right guy for the job in 2006.

What many may not realize right now is the accountability that DRad is enforcing in the Edge Building. I just don't think Bill could do what Dan is doing.
Even though I am loving what he is visibly doing now, I believe what he will do after the football season will be truly meaningful and positive for this program. Serious.

No disrespect to Bill Curry. I admire the man very much.
