Virginia is all over this game with West Virginia not far behind.
The Tangerine must be turning so many shades of orange that ya couldn't count em. At last count, Clemson had sold a little over 6,000 & Texas Tech has sold 1,000. The Peach has just officially turned red. At last count, Maryland had only sold 6,000 tix & the Fridge is now calling fans personally. The Peach may not sell out for the 1st time in a decade.
Both the Peach & the Tangerine passed on Virginia.

I think the Charlotte location has a lot to do with it...many West Virginia and UVA fans can make a one day trip..Charlotte is less than 3 1/2 hours from Roanoke for example.

UVA might be selling a ton of tickets for the Charlotte Bowl. But if they were playing the Tangerine Bowl on December 23rd (instead of Charlotte's more advantageous 28th), they wouldn't sell nearly as many.

Some people are trying to say that UVA travels better than Clemson and supports their program more. Regardless of this year's bowl ticket sales, I'll never believe that. This is an anomaly produced by bad scheduling for the Tangerine Bowl. Few people would disrupt their Christmas to drive 500 miles to see a football game, which is what Clemson fans have to do to play Texas Tech.

Kudoes to the Charlotte Bowl, though. They got a good matchup.

Many, many Tennessee fans could make a 1 day trip to Atlanta, but most will stay a night. Same with WVa/Va. Continental is extremely happy that Vir dropped to them.
Peach has not had a problem selling out with Clem, Vir, NC St, NCar & GT (in record time). The Peach will never invite Maryland again, at least, not before the next generation takes over. Maryland's effort is really lackluster for the Peach, as is Clemson's for the Tangerine. The Terrapins will have a tough sell to get into the Peach, CTB & Tangerine in the future, maybe even the Gator, too.
Tangerine must change it's time til after Christmas, without interferring with Citrus Bowl, which could be tough, or Tangerine will die. The 20th (Sat) would've been better than the 23rd (Mon).

The Gator Bowl kind of screwed things up. If they weren't going to take Virginia they should have taken Maryland and let the Peach have Virginia and the Tangerine have NC State and Charlotte have Clemson.
That would have been more logical based on the standings and would have brought in the same or more attendance in each bowl.
It wouldn't really matter about the Seattle Bowl and Silicon Valley Bowl with Wake and TECH because very few are going anyway and not much could be done about it.
Also, that is a very good point that Ace made about the Tangerine would have been better off with a 20th date as opposed to the 23rd.

I stated in another post a few days ago, "Friegden would probably never leave Maryland". All bets are off if the Maryland fans do not support friegden's football team.
