Instead, he looked at those spread and pro-style schools, not even knowing that when Georgia Tech contacted him during his junior year, Johnson had left Navy to take over the Yellow Jackets, aiming to bring his unique offense back to the BCS level.
"I thought [former] coach [Chan] Gailey was still there, actually," Luallen said. "Then I did a little research on it and found out, and then I really fell in love with it."
He fell in love with more than the system, though, pointing to Georgia Tech's reputable academics and the school's Atlanta location as factors.
