Cool Mike Sewak interview...

Refrigeratormover and my criticism of the patty cake pussy football Coach D'Allesandries taught is evident in Sewak's comments.

I feel vindicated for all the crap I've taken on ragging out D'Allesandries over the years.

Amen Brother!

Contrast this...

I don’t think they’re where they expected to be and I think I’d say they’re not where our expectations are. But when I say that, I say that collectively. I represent them and they represent me.

With this...

We put them into position to make the plays they just didn't make them.

What a world of difference.

Let me guess, first quote PJ, second quote Gailey.
Pretty much. First quote is Sewak (from the article) and the 2nd is my recollection from Gailey - I can't cite a specific source.

If its any consolation, I was pretty critical of Coach Joe D as well. But one of the player's parents thought I was taking it too far so out of respect I kept my thoughts to myself after that. It just seemed obvious that something important was missing from our OL play. Something, I might add, that is well on the way to making a comeback.

If you think our OL play was the problem under Gailey, you must not have been paying attention while we were leading the conference in rushing and sacks allowed while our passing game was the worst in the conference. Coach D was a good coach.

Gotta disagree with you here. The RB's had a lot of 2nd and 3rd effort yards with this group. Several of us OL would sit and watch us catch and throw. While they weren't horrible, they weren't very good as a group. As far as passing I remember a lot of interceptions and scrambling for one or two yards.

Well I never felt our O line play was that bad, over all, but I'm clearly not the expert in this thread so I guess I'll defer to RM.

When we played big physical teams, our offensive line got abused.

I'm not saying Coach D was a great coach, but we had several worse than him.

When we played BC our OL got abused. Big physical DLs tend to abuse OL irrespective of scheme.

I thought our pass blocking was worse than our run blocking under the last regime. Didn't we lead the ACC in rushing every year? Sure our backs were good, but they didn't do it on their own.

IMO, ultimately our inability to get consistent play from our QBs led to inconsistent play by the offense in general.

Hopefully we have more OL success against VT next week. PJ said on the radio that VT's defense has been playing lights out, and that from a scoring perspective ECU got points off and INT & blocked punt.
