CPJ gettin some love

This is Dennis Dodd of cbs sportsline ACC picks

I read that and I feel like he really felt like putting UNC ahead of us there but couldn't for lack of actual evidence (recruiting being the non-actual evidence). While it's nice that he admits we are the most likely to challenge VPI, I don't know it just feels like this guy somehow managed to load the compliments with uncertainty.

Surprised to see butch davis so low!

To quote said article:
"The more you count in the Miami years, the higher Davis ranks"

I keep telling people that you can't pile on expectations on a coach because of what he did somewhere else. Paul Johnson won a national title his 2nd year at Georgia Southern, does that mean that is where we set the bar this year? I mean we may hope but to actually expect it?

Also, but is it just me or does the head coach seem to define how people treat the loss of players between years. Everyone talks about how we're "rebuilding" our defensive line. Oh but Butch Davis and them Tar Heels are "reloading" the receivers and the O line. Same with FSU and their secondary.
Seems like if you have a coach who has a bigger name then I guess you reload instead of rebuild.

great points. Personally i really dont care for Dodd all that much.

Cutcliffe is easily better than Groh and Shannon.
I agree with that, but I don't get some of the hype for Cutcliffe. His records at Ole Miss were 8-5, 7-5, 7-4, 7-6, 10-3 and 4-7. Didn't we just fire a coach for records like that?

I think he gets a lot of credit for his QB development.

Of course coaching the Mannings may have something to do with that.
