Cpj

I am still not convinced the triple option is the best offense. But I am convinced that CPJ is a great coach and can use this TO to take us far.

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It's like any other offense, it can be slowed down or stopped.

I think it is perfect for a place like Tech. Contrarian offenses are always better for non-factories like Tech. We never get too many pro-style 5 stars, so why not make your 5 star be a 3-star to a factory. If PJ can keep recruiting like he is this year, we'll be a force on the national scene for his tenure, and challenge for the ACC every year.
Our offense is already better than anything we've had over the last 8 years....I'll take it.

Yeah, I figured those calls were set from the starts. That's extremely impressive that the handoff was JN's option, to decide whether or not to handoff within one, maybe two seconds.

If you read my post game analysis, I talked about this. Josh was basically hitting the opposite hole.

Yeah I read that. I just thought it was set that JN would fake the handoff and hit the unoccupied gap. Maybe it's because I'm not very knowledgable about the details of football (not sarcasm, btw), but I was impressed that he made a decision within a second based on the orientation of the DTs' shoulders.

The Midline is commonly called a QB designed run because usually the DT takes the B-back resulting in the QB pulling it and following the motion A-back. You'll recognize it by the motion A-back making a sharp cut toward the playside Guard after he swings around the B-back.

The Triple Option is a GREAT offense. We aren't even half-way there. Our O-line is no where near optimum and our QB is still learning. Trust me, give it 2 to 3 years. Once CPJ has his recruits in there at QB and O-line, it will be scary.

If the option is run really well, (good QB reads and O-line blocking) it doesn't matter if you put CPJ himself back there as a running back, you will be tearing up defenses all day. The option's success is predicated on great decision making by the QB and great O-line blocking. We are at the average level right now in those categories and at the above average level at the running back position. Just give it time ... you will see.
