BAY was called for one on a wr making one about 8 yards downfield. Has Beamer's whining opened some BS?

So why was that illegal? He wasn't blocking back towards the ball, he was headed downfield and the defender was coming towards him. I think it was a bad call.

I thought so too. someone doesn't know the definition of crackback block.

All I am saying is that I have not seen that call in quite some time. I agree. They said it was because it was in the open field. What's up with that?

I suspect the TV showed the wrong guy on replay.

Crackback blocks are perfectly legal unless you make initial contact below the waist and/or block from behind. They can involve any perimeter receiver, slotback, or wing-back/A-back coming "back" to the ball from the outside-in. Crackback blocks can be used against safeties, linebackers, and even defensive ends. The key is to have the head in front of the defender and to make initial contact above the waist. Not doing so is officially known as an illegal crackback block and it is a 15 yard penalty.

That pass interference call might be the worst call I have ever seen in a college football game at this level. EVER. Awful refs in this game. Big Ten by the way.

Eh, that blatantly missed offsides penalty in the Cotton Bowl that resulted in a pick was pretty bad.

But it's not a crackback unless you are blocking back towards the original position of the ball, which he wasn't doing. So they still blew the call.

BTW, the Big 10 refs don't know the definition of pass interference either.

Which is why it's good we know the refs can't be Big 10.

Question, what conference is our refs for the game?

I hope it's the crew that called the Tech Ugag game. For the first time in ages, I thought that was a well called game.

They called a game already (at least the R did). I think it was the Mike Leach is no longer the coach bowl.
