Critique of Preseason Coaches' Poll

Sounds like the usual Northern shake-up will occur. Teams such as ND, Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State are consistently overrated in the preseason polls and typically fall after a few weeks every year.

UGAy #13? Are you kidding me?

When I saw that ranking, that poll lost all credibility with me.

Six SEC teams ranked and five of them, including Georgia, in the top 15. That's rich.

By mid-season, the SEC will be down to two Top 25 teams.

Quoted and bookmarked. We will definitely be revisiting this thread during the season.

I think it just proves how biased even the coaches can be. Or maybe how even they can vote based upon past merits.

I've never really understood the purpose of Spurrier's Duke tribute vote. Is there any other reason than to be funny?

They were the first to give him a head coaching job. He says that his vote is a thank you for that.

Worthless poll. The dingbats in charge must've hired some kids to do the dirty work while they hit the links.

Bush league crap. Pay no mind.

The dawgs at 13 is a dead giveaway. I don't even buy LSU being the juggernaut but that's just me, I guess.

TECH should be in the top 15.

Five finished in the top 25 last year, including two of the top three. After it was all said and done, the Florida fans were right. They were better than tOSU and only had that one loss because of the strength of the SEC.

The coaches don't realize, though, that UGA finished strong last year because of their defense, a defense that graduated most of its starters. By mid-season, I bet they'll fall out of the top 25 to be replaced by South Carolina.

Preseason polls are only preaseason polls. The proof will be in the pudding. If I recall correctly, our 1990 national champs were not ranked preseason. If they were, it was certainly not very high.

I agree with Essobee. The preseason polls(and the polls in general) can be very frustrating, but if you win the polls will generally take care of themselves. Just don't tell that to Auburn fans.
