Dabo Snow Day

best coach in the ACC....hate to say it....and part of being a coach is recruiting. He may not be the best x and o mind in the ACC. But he is the best overall HC in the ACC right now I think. Jimbo is good too....but Dabo has launched clemson. FSU was always in a good spot it just needed a refresh.

I used to think success was 2/3 coaching and 1/3 everything else.

Now I think it's 2/3 recruiting and 1/3 everything else.

Talent fixes everything.

And coaches get too much credit for winning with a loaded roster and too little credit for winning without one.

Well this thread went downhill really fast.

I like how they had a fairly big wide hill, but insisted on going down at the spot that carried them directly toward an iron fence.

He wasn't handed anything at Clemson either. Place was kind of a wreck when he took over and he's totally turned it around.

Were they in the stadium? Had to avoid the rock.

They started below the rock so that wasn't an issue, but if anything, if they were on either side of the rock that would solve the problem.

What's most important is that he recognizes this shortcoming in himself, and instead of being an egoist and trying to prove that he is actually a great X & O coach, he simply hires the best OCs and DCs he can find.

It's an absolute winning combination. He is head and shoulders above any coach in the ACC, and possibly in the country (I think, for example, he has taken Clemson much further than a Nick Saban could have if Clemson had hired Saban instead of Dabo).

Saban took over a 2-8 LSU team and led them to a SEC title in his second year and a NC in his 4th. He took over a 3-8 Bama team and took them a NC in his 3rd, 4th, 6th and 9th years.

Dabo has done a great job, but nothing like Saban did at his last two stops.
