Damn!!! Corkey gets paid...

What's wrong with people - wish him the best but glad I'm not paying him

Like I needed another reason not to like the NFL.

Matthew Stafford mediocre pro.

This. Glad I'm not writing the check but I hope he doesn't accidentally strangle himself with a bunch of tied-together bills or anything.

Economics of the NFL dictate if you are an above average QB, which his stats indicate, your new contract will have to be the most expensive in history of the NFL. Very weird contract bubble going on in the NFL, which is ironic that the players want to strike and kill their golden goose over nitpicky stuff like Roger Goodell's power and rookie contracts.

Isn't it pretty much a zero sum game due to the NFL's strict salary cap? As in, if QB contracts keep going up and up, there's less money for the rest of the positions?

If so, I'm not sure why players as a whole would be happy with a QB contract bubble or consider it a golden goose.

It's not a zero sum game. The salary cap goes up every year too. Everyone getting paid, but especially QBs and pass rushers.

Right, but you specifically said that there is a contract bubble which makes the players' future strike ironic. I assumed you were talking about the situation with QBs and new contracts. Was the bubble you were referring to just the fact that the NFL keeps making more money so the salary cap keeps going up?

Eh I just intended to say the irony of a looming strike comes at an unprecedented era of prosperity for the players.

more power to him...
