David Sims in a key role in an option offense at GT has worked well once before - hope it will again!
Those other schools gonna let him play QB?
About a month ago I watched his film on Scout, and came away VERY impressed with his running video. His passing video was grainy and hard to see, but it looked liked he threw and completed a shipload of long passes.
As a runner Sims is FULL of shake and bake, and is plenty fast. I'd guess he's a true 4.5 at least. Super elusive & sees very well. At one point during the film he eluded 5 tacklers in the backfield and you could hear an opposing fan screaming over and over for someone to tackle him. Pretty funny. He would just weave through people and make them look like they were just standing there.
Lots of big schools are recruiting him for other positions. He looks like a TO QB to me, though, and a damn good one. Of all QBs I've watched film of, he was may favorite (including Luallen).
I like our chances then. Quarterbacks want to play quarterback. That's just the way it is.no. they want him at safety.
USCe said they want to use him mainly as a safety but have "packages" drawn up just for him on offense. he's pretty explosive.
That's when you start getting much better with explosive punt/ko returners and depth at all the skill positions. DB's, WR's, A-backs.....CANT WAIT!!This is the exact kind of QB CPJ will recruit every
year. The battle at the QB spot will be fierce. If the
playing time is not there, these athletes can go to
other positions & excel.
They know they won't be playing option QB in the
pros so the move should be an easy sell. They say
CPJ likes to bring in 3 to 6 QBs per year because
they are usually the best players on their HS team.
