This would be our number 1 qb target for next year. Anybody know anything about him? Or where we stand with him.

Well, supposedly we lead now, but he hasn't taken all his visits. Not sure he's our #1 target though as we're involved with a bunch of QBs.

David Sims in a key role in an option offense at GT has worked well once before - hope it will again!

he is #1 on the board and we currently are the leader for his services. He also lists Tennessee, and USCe.

Those other schools gonna let him play QB?

no. they want him at safety.

USCe said they want to use him mainly as a safety but have "packages" drawn up just for him on offense. he's pretty explosive.

About a month ago I watched his film on Scout, and came away VERY impressed with his running video. His passing video was grainy and hard to see, but it looked liked he threw and completed a shipload of long passes.

As a runner Sims is FULL of shake and bake, and is plenty fast. I'd guess he's a true 4.5 at least. Super elusive & sees very well. At one point during the film he eluded 5 tacklers in the backfield and you could hear an opposing fan screaming over and over for someone to tackle him. Pretty funny. He would just weave through people and make them look like they were just standing there.

Lots of big schools are recruiting him for other positions. He looks like a TO QB to me, though, and a damn good one. Of all QBs I've watched film of, he was may favorite (including Luallen).

Worth a look?

This is the exact kind of QB CPJ will recruit every
year. The battle at the QB spot will be fierce. If the
playing time is not there, these athletes can go to
other positions & excel.

They know they won't be playing option QB in the
pros so the move should be an easy sell. They say
CPJ likes to bring in 3 to 6 QBs per year because
they are usually the best players on their HS team.

I like our chances then. Quarterbacks want to play quarterback. That's just the way it is.

That's when you start getting much better with explosive punt/ko returners and depth at all the skill positions. DB's, WR's, A-backs.....CANT WAIT!!

People will point to the return men as the reason why our kick returns will improve vastly in the next 1-2 years. But think about this:

The triple option teaches linemen, backs, and WRs incredible blocking skills IN SPACE, the exact same conditions one encounters on a punt or kickoff return.

Sure the return man's important, but give a good return man a lane and it's time to strike up the band. Watch Navy's returns on film. The blocking is off-the-charts good.

Back to Sims, so this isn't a total hijack....I also like how sturdy he is physically. At 6-0 210lbs he can take a pounding right out of the box!
