David Sims...

With Sims and hopefully Myles this year, that would be a dynamic safety duo a couple of years out. Of course if it doesn't work out at Qb..

After showings like last Thursday Night we may attract a Vince Young or Terrelle Pryor type/calibre QB in coming years. I will never forget hearing P.J. say when he was asked " Who would be the perfect QB to fit with his system if he could name one" He said "Vince Young".

Could you imagine Vince Young running this offense?!

OMG!!!!

This young man is built a lot like Nesbitt...and moves a lot like Nesbitt.

A super athlete that, if not a starting QB for us, could be a BB, AB, or S. First shot is definitely QB and I would not be surprised if he ended up there permanently.

He had offers from Kentucky, Michigan, Tennessee, Florida, FSU, Alabama, North Carolina, Kansas, South Carolina, etc.

This is a huge pickup! We have a great class going! If we can land dontae aycock we will have three GREAT qbs coming in. IMO Aycock is the best though. Also if we can land Myles we will have a highly ranked class.

He doesn't have the arm that Nesbitt had or even has now. I just don't see him playing QB. I watched his video and you can tell he is one hell of an athlete, but his throws lacked the mustard.

Even if we land Aycock also, I still think Luallen is the best QB recruit we have.

ESPN and ABC yesterday gave a lot of love to GT, especially Flutie and Craig James. They both said we were the best in the ACC right now after what we did to Miami. You're going to see a lot of media jump on pretty soon. Even though they will never admit they were wrong about us.

Sorry to Hijack but getting players like Sims will get us there quicker. Great Pick up and welcome to The Flats.

I predict he will play DB and be an all-conference caliber guy. But if he can play QB he may be Joe Ham revisited. You never know.

I agree Luallen is the best throwing QB we have coming in. However, David Sims is easily the better rushing quarterback, and can create on his own running a la Nesbitt. Sims also throws well on the run.

I see your point regarding his video, but I'll wait till Sims has some college coaching to see what he can do through the air. Imo, I think he throws well enough, that taken with his running ability, he will be a QB for us. Has strong academics and reputation for leadership.

However it goes, we just picked up a great one!

Everyone that is looking at videos...there are different videos all over the place from Rivals to Scout and everywhere in between. Some are jr, some are sr....some are just from one game....and some are true highlights over time.

He ran for 1400 and threw for 2400 this year....and he has that intangible "it" factor...he is a winner.

For what it's worth, he is listed as a Most Wanted safety with Myles. Luallen and Aycock listed as Most Wanted QB's.

What Most Wanted list is this?

All I know is that our coaches have wanted Sims since prior to spring...and offered Aycock not long after that...both as QB's.

Of course at least one of them will likely end up at another spot if they do not see some PT at QB by their second year.

great pick-up. I love getting guys that can play multiple positions.

This is from the AJC recruiting article in the Sunday paper.

I found this post on the free board at Rivals. The poster claims to be one of Sims' coaches. The playoff stats he gives are accurate, so it seems likely the season stats would be as well. Take it with a grain of salt, but if true, :wow:.

"David sims will be in ATL tommrow night for the game. I coach him and would pass along some info. He has been a priority for techs staff from day one. He is what T. Pryor was to Ohio st for their offense. I think from day 1 he will at the very least challang for #2 qb spot. He is a finalist for mr football which is a great honor. Season stats 2100 yds passing 35 tds 1500 yds rushing 26 tds. Last week in first round playoffs he passed 235 yds 4 tds rushed 251 yds 4 tds @ a int in 3 quarters. He is special and built for coach johnson perfect option. He told David he really think he could be a heisman canidate if he came there. He is a good kid and student of the game".

2100 thru the air and 1500 on the ground is a lot of offense for one guy.
