Looking back at '06 recruiting the only problem I see is probation. We must face that the scholarship reduction is going to hurt depth for several years and has a likely chance to impact overal records. I am not critical of this year's recruiting; I am critical of mismanagement of eligibility issues.
The size of the class is why it is ranked 11 of 12 in the conference. Looking at average stars per recruit we move up a few spots, ahead of BC, UVA, NCSU, and Duke.
1. Miami - 3.33 2. FSU - 3.20 3. Clemson - 3.11
4. Maryland - 2.82 5. VT - 2.68 5. UNC - 3.68
7. GT - 2.57 8. Duke - 2.46 9. BC - 2.40
10. State - 2.39 11. UVA - 2.36 12. WFU - 2.29
I am grateful to the recruits who signed with us. Glad to have them as Yellow Jackets. They seem to be a quality group - at least one recruit each to help the D in backfield, line, and LB right away, a strong class at WR and RB. The numbers are just thin.
The biggest conference positive was probably at Clemson. The schools who should be most alarmed by a weak effort are NCSU and UVA.
