Does anyone know the dead period for recruiting? When will we hear about the new staff hires.

I think the dead period starts tomorrow (the 15th), and I would imagine that any staff coming from Navy would be announced after the Midshipmens' bowl game on the 20th.

to answer several questions.

Dead period begins Sunday, Dec. 16 and is through Thursday, Jan. 3. A recruit can still call a coach and talk to them.

The staff coming from Navy (and the position they are believed to coach here) are:
Mike Sewak - OT's
Todd Spencer- G/C's
Brian Bohannon- WR's
Jeff Monken- SB's

It also appears fairly certain that Giff Smith, Brian Jean-Marie, and Charles Kelly will be staying on. It is undecided on Jeep Hunter right now.

Any indication on who will be DC when / if Tenuta leaves?

Any indication on what style of defense PJ prefers? Will we stick with a zone blitzing scheme?

Griffin had a good High School coach a few years back name Bohannon, would this be a son of his?

Answered my own ? He is from Griffin. He's a damn dog though, sheesh

need a QB coach
obviously a D-coord
possibly a secondaries coach

I thought Monken was picking up RB's in general...not just SBs?

Yeah at the press conference CPJ said that he "may have to slap him around a bit." lol

Sewak wouldn't be coming from USNA.......he was HC at GSU post-PJ and was fired after the '05 season. He hasn't coached since, but has done coaching and offense training materials, iirc.

Oh! That's what he meant. Hell I will do it for him if he wants. Maybe a little waterboarding to convince him.

I got into my cocktails a little early and was disoriented.

Finally someone who does a minimum amount of research. Sewak was also OC for PJ at GSU. I expect him to be named OC here as well. Good hire for us. Was part of the building of this offense at GSU and Hawaii.

Sewak will coach OT's...and maybe be the asst. head coach.

PJ has been pretty clear that he is his own offensive coordinator and will call all the players. The Asst. HC will help look at film and coordinate the game plan.

hiveredtech.

I think it would just be fitting for Coach Johnson to pull out all the stops and surround this "vibe" we are getting about our program with a staff littered with "Tech" people. If we could keep CJT, that would be one thing, OTOH, if we can promote Giff to DC, use that money saved to spend it on Tech guys at position coaching levels, namely get Ted Roof and Glenn Spencer back, I think we could really even take this thing "up" another level. I think of so many intangibles that would go along with having Ted and Glenn back on the flats. I think they would welcome the chance to come back "home" after the "character building" days at Duke. I especially would highlight getting Glenn back, the man can flat out coach and won't be unemployed long.
Do you see any possibilities surrounding my little pipe dream??
