We have a really tough schedule. A good team could easily have to settle for 7/8 wins this lineup. We're in one of the best divisions in football and have @Clemson, UGA, UT, and @UCF outside our division. Might be the toughest OOD lineup in the country. Toss in a good FCS team on 5 days rest and WF and we don't have a single throwaway game.

Also, he almost sounds like a fan. "Spread option." CPJ love. Nailed the studs and likely starters. Pointed out MJ in the VT win. I follow most of the other ACC teams as a GT/ACC/CFB nut but I doubt I could nail a preview of another squad as well as he did.
 
The only glaring miss to me was the defensive improvement late in the season. Pointing out that returning starters from an average/ poor defense isn't necessarily a good thing is a bit unfair. The defense I the last 4/5 games was markedly different from the one in the first 7/8.
 
I like that ugag has been relegated to their earned and proper place of "middling".

"Their overall record sounds pretty good, though it was weakened by the fact that, save the Virginia Tech upset, every one of Georgia Tech’s wins came against middling programs struggling to stay above water in their own divisions".
 
I'd take 8 wins this year. If we can get some good defensive breaks and a decent pass game together I think 9 is reachable.

Was it though? We didn't play a quality offense in the last 4 games, in OFF FEI rating Kentucky was the highest rated at 54. (we were ~#21 btw on offense, and in the 80s on defense).

Before that we played a strong offense in UNC and were pounded. A pretty weak offense from Duke that put 35 on us.

If we could ever have a frigging defense we would plow under everyone on the schedule. I will agree that we played more aggressive as the year went on - and I think we must do that! If we are going to fail we should fail fast and get their defense back on the field so that we will have the late game advantage.

How many of you have said when the other team is in a 3rd and 10 or so situation "Crap, they've got us just where they want us" because you just know they are going to convert?

So much this. Though I think the lack of pass rush was the issue the last few years. Kinda hard to get off the field.
