This season is so much like one from our past - 1966. That team won all their games, unlike our Miami loss early, and they did not have a league championship game against Clemson. But, that team that had such a great season finished with a loss to UGA and Florida outplayed them worse than Iowa outplayed us in the Orange Bowl. Seasons like this past one are fun, but the ending leaves a bad taste in your mouth for the off season. I was only 11 at the time and back then Tech was my second favorite team as I was loyal to Dad's school, Auburn. But, I still loved Dodd and the Jackets and our Orange Bowl trips, separated by many years, felt very similar.
I now know what defines a great season for me - beat UGA and win the bowl game. The few times we have pulled off that double - '85, '90, '98 - maybe I am missing one - have been the most satisfying seasons at year's end.
