did you read the whole thread? It was mostly about whether or not we could retain Giff Smith after Gailey is gone because our recruiting has been much better lately.
 
Well , we cant be held hostage to the Chanster because of Giff.
 
I understand the HIGH importance all of us hold in regards to Giff Smith staying at Georgia Tech.

HOWEVER, all will not be lost if he goes too. I want him to stay but just hear me out.

I think we can use the basic philosphy Giff brought to our recruiting program. Seeking out individuals early and often who aspire to have excellent careers if their football doesn't reach the next level...and we can certainly put yo' arse in the NFL too (see Daryl Smith, Calvin Johnson, Philip Wheeler, etc..)

This philosophy is scarily NEW to us when we should have been using it all along. SO, I think i can say we would LOVE to have Giff Smith back (maybe in a DC position even) but for the basic philosphy of recruiting he brought to our program...for that, we should be forever greatful.

In the end, we don't NEED Giff Smith...we only needed what he brought to the table and I think future leaders of GT football would have to be complete morons to forget it.
 
I don't want to lose Giff, or Chan either for that matter. But I realize that if Chan doesn't win out through the regular season it would be awfully difficult for him to stay and I also realize that Giff likes Chan. I also see fine recruiting, the remnants of flunkgate and quality wins counterbalanced by coaching mistakes and embarassing losses. So as a realist, I accept what may happen and the risk plus expense that goes with it. Que sera, sera. But I very much appreciate Giff and the job he does. I hope he stays.

To be clear, I meant "who cares about what they're discussing on Hive today?"

I don't get this fixation to have a new thread every day pointing out the supposed stupidity of the Hive.
 
Giff is the one who scores the big time recruits for us. Hes the man and dont want to see him go. Unfortunately, when Gailey is gone...Giff is pretty much a gonner.
 
Why in the hell would Giff leave if he was offered a promotion as DC?

Another negative in this scenario would be Tenuta leaving but we have got to keep either Giff or Tenuta on DEFENSE. This is a must.

3. Defense gave up over 400 yards to VT, over 500 yards to BC & almost 500 yards to Maryland.

4. Hokies ran for 185 yards...they came into the game ranked 96th in the nation in rushing offense.

Some things just have to change in the off season. Evaluation starts from the Top and goes to the bottom.
