Great update on Rivals regarding Derrick Morgans visit. He is the #90 player in the country and #1 in Pennsylvania. Probably one of the 5 best DE's in the country.

I will not reveal all of the details of the interview out of respect for Rivals....but here is 3 snippets.
He loved hanging out with Jackson, Threet, Dwyer, Melton before the game...and Darryl Richard the next day. He even called GT an "institution" instead of a university...and mentioned that the "the officials were giving it to Notre Dame" !!! Got to love that!

I have heard the visit went exceedingly well...but good to see it in black and white. He still has Miami, Penn State, Ohio State, and NCState left to visit. He also is giving a look to BC.

Good to hear our recruits saw the sh*t calls we saw. Also good to hear that his visit went extremely well.

I would love to land Derrick Morgan...he could be our next Greg Gathers easily.

Isn't this guy a heavy Penn St lean?

thought to be that because that is his home state.

Inside indications was that he had an incredible time with the players, current and too come...plus the coaches. He is big on academics as well.

The current commits will be staying on him.

That would be awesome to have another dominant player on defense.:FIREdevil:

Does this mean Deangelo McCray is out? I saw on ESPN, or something, that he was listed as a TE. I thought he was DE. Any thoughts?

We are still on him....however:
- his list of favorties bounces all over the place
- he said the only reason he was looking at GT was because of mario butler
- there are some grade issues to overcome
- he is injured right now, and was originally thought to have a slight ACL tear, but just found out it was meniscus damage
- based on what he is saying he is not as likely to value the entire 'tops in academic/athletic combo' pitch that the others like
- plus we are looking like we are in the thick of it for Morgan and Peters...two players we really like...and supposedly have higher.

This in no way means we are not recruiting him, I think we are...but we are not selling out to him because the indicators are not flashing green.....but more yellow.

With only 4 scholarships left to give, and one of them almost undoubtedly reserved for Nesbitt, I have a hard time believing we're hot to offer a third DT one of the remaining 3 open. I mean yeah, he's a blue chipper interested in us, so we should keep the option open, but I doubt he's our primary focus.

My ideal 4 would be Everson (CB) Nesbitt (QB) Morgan/Tucker (DE) and someone else big on the OL.

I don't see us on any TEs or FBs radars. Do you guys?

...but if McCray is looking to play Tight End in college .... man, lets sell the farm to get him in here.

Oh dude, just read this about Morgan:

Hell yes.

Morgan is someone we really want.
Nesbitt is a done deal.
Everson is close.
Burnett is another we want...as is Peters.

That is 5 with 4 spaces...good problem to have.

We need DE's...we were worn out Saturday night with only two of them.

Tucker is outside looking in.

Seriously Nesbitt is a done deal?
I'm getting more nervous about his committment the longer he puts off his announcement.

Those are two really big red flags. Grade issues in high school will be compounded at Tech.

Do we really need more injury issues?

I heard that McCray didn't visit the GT/ND game. IMO, that was our only chance to really get him.

I'm really liking Morgan though. The fact that we could be getting some top-ranked recruits from out-of-state as well as in-state is very good. Don't get me wrong, our recruiting has improved greatly no matter the talent, but I've also heard there's a higher than normal level of talent in Georgia this year who also academically qualify.

Hopefully, we can keep this up next year. A great season with at least a Peach/Gator bowl birth wouldn't hurt either.

According to reports, now that Nesbitt is in the fold, for these last 3 spots the coaching staff wants 1 DE and 2 REC/DB prospects, with Everson being one and either Cam Baker OR Morgan Burnett being the other. Anything more than this would require some rather creative adjustments to the roster.
