Desirability rankings - Big 5

Don't click on the USNR Academics link they used. Your head will explode.
I've already seen them and I dont understand what metrics they use for ranking. The only school above us in the P5 ranking that has a higher average starting salary for alumni is Stanford, and most of them also have higher tuition. So what makes the rest better thaan GT?

My guess is a wider range of majors.

I think Georgia Tech has an intangible desirability. We have more tradition than 1/3 schools listed above us. And there are way too many programs listed above us that have not won a NC.

Why are y'all all butthurt about this list? It is just a list.

Why would we think we would rate highly on a ranking of all sports performance when we don't participate in all sports?

Why would we think we rate highly on a list of "National Universities" when we don't provide a diverse list of majors? And we aren't private?

The fact of the matter is that this ranking is meaningless with respect to our value to other conferences, particularly the B1G, since we give them a gateway into the Atlanta market as has been documented elsewhere. The difference between 10 cents a subscriber and a dollar per subscriber. That's huge.

Kinda dumb, but kinda fun...

This imbecile has Boston College, Wake Forest, and FLORIDA (!!!) ranked ahead of Tech in academics by referencing USNWR's discredited "National Universities Rankings" which is well known to be tilted toward worthless liberal arts programs and against science and engineering programs whose graduates actually get paid.

He shat his pants.

Ranking is stupid. The only important criteria is how much $value$ can your school bring to the conference.

Tech plays in a small stadium that they can't fill unless the other team fills it with their fans and has an albatross coach wrapped around its neck. Hopefully the B1G sees potential value in the Atlanta market or Tech is on the outside looking in after everything shakes out

What would a diverse group of majors have to do with academics? Sounds more like a way to trap more students with student loans their major will never give them the opportunity to pay back.
