Did anyone else get charged today for a random ticket price increase?

Bigcry. I know. No I don't 80K anymore. That's out of the way.

Today I was surprised by a random $100 charge from the GTAA. Emailed my ticket rep - "the seats you chose went up in price by $25 each"

1) I am in the upper North in a non Tech-fund section. Because I am in the wheelchair accessible aisle, my seat location did not change. I am in the same seats I have been in for the last 3 years.

2) 3 days before kickoff they decide my seats are worth more, don't notify me and just randomly charge me?

Was there something communicated in a mass email that additional charges were coming that I failed to recognize? Just wondering how much outrage is appropriate.

I know GTAA needs money to operate but I prefer to give it voluntarily.

I had to pay an extra $100 when I selected season tix. It want really explained, just $100 is due

I haven't heard anything and will be pretty dang upset if they increase what I owe after the fact. Like you said it's not necessarily about the money but the principle behind it. Don't upcharge me after the fact because you didn't sell as many tickets as you thought you would.

I do not appear to have been dinged like you were, being seated in UE ($100 fund section). I'm assuming they were expecting a certain dollar quota from each section? Doesn't make any sense otherwise.

What a clown fiesta. They probably lost their asses after the no tailgating announcement

Was this on a credit card? I'd be tempted to dispute it.

As I understand the process, the base ticket prices were unchanged, and you would either be charged (at checkout) or refunded (at some future date) the difference in the Tech Fund.

For my case, I originally paid a discounted base ticket price (because I'm GTRI and get a faculty/staff discount). When I selected my Covid seats, the ticket prices shown were the full, normal ticket price, but they accepted my prior discounted payment as payment in full for tickets (they still gave me the discount, basically). I went down in Tech Fund, and they said they'd contact me once the process was done so I could defer/donate/refund that payment. (Still waiting on that last part.)

It seems bogus that they would just raise your ticket price after the fact, unless you bought seats with some kind of reduced rate "please buy upper north tickets" deal initially and they eliminated that deal for the Covid reseating (because they figured they'd be filling the whole capacity at the base ticket price). But even then, it seems like you'd have been notified of/required to pay the difference when you selected your new seats and not after the fact.

Looking at the original ticket prices, $430 was the max price for Tech Fund areas, and non-Tech Fund areas were $405. I think maybe they just raised every seat in the stadium to the $430 price for the reseating?

That would explain a $25 increase in a non-Tech Fund section.

Looking at that link, it does flag up how they were gouging for the Mercedes-Benz game. It's a little bit of a shaft that the price stayed maxed out even after the M-B game was eliminated, but I guess they need the money and we should be happy that we're getting football at all.

That is exactly the explanation that I was just given.

Miscommunication on their part. I have been offered a 404 shirt as a peace offering. All is forgiven on this day. Go Jackets!

Unless the shirt is blue and then it's time to incite a riot

I’d insist on the $200 ATL hat.

I moved from a Tech Fund area to a non Tech Fund area and had the option of getting a refund on the $25 or donating it.
