Happens a lot. When a kid is a sleeper not getting much ink, the services kind of ignore them. When they show up as a commit they sometimes take another look and decide yeah they missed it at first. Just so many kids and not as many games.
Someone pointed out on the board before that the stars mean more in hoops since the kids play year around all over the country. Not as many kids either so just easier to evaluate.
