Did anyone think tonight\'s game would be THIS bad?

I have been on Gailey's case for a few weeks now, but I never thought that the team, and the staff, would play as poorly as they did tonight. I am as shocked tonight as I was after the Wake game. The team has obviously thrown in the towel, ala Bill Lewis's teams.
.
It won't happen, but Gailey should be fired the second the season is officially over.
.
It is Bill Lewis all over again. Anyone who won't admit it, is a blind fool, bless their heart.

Its not Gailey's fault he had no QB......

Re: Did anyone think tonight\'s game would be THIS bad?

No QB? Oh, we got tons of QB's. We just don't know what to do with any of them.

he does have a qb, he has many. half of them are WRs now. and he doesnt want to develop or allow bilbo to play even when the game is completely out of reach (Except the last drive). suggs isnt gettin it done. let bilbo play from now on. i dont care if we give him the ball and tell he to go do whatever the heck he feels like

Re: Did anyone think tonight\'s game would be THIS bad?

I agree...let Bilbo draw up his plays in the dirt

Bilbo and the QB draw!!!! it fools them all the time!!!!

This game isn't all on AJ. The stupid penalties, dropped passes, and the D that quit in the 2nd half sure didn't help either.

Re: Did anyone think tonight\'s game would be THIS bad?

The defense was getting hammered. On the field WAY too long again. Their line outweighed ours by 20 pounds.

Gailey should be under fire. I truly believe that BOB is being limited by Gailey who wanted him to stay in the booth not on the field where he was comfortable. The playing of Suggs ahead of Bilbo is amazingly similiar to Lewis' playing of Lugenbill ahead of Donnie Davis. Bilbo should be playing getting the reps and time just like Joe did early in his career. Bilbo will make mistakes but he also will make the big plays that will win games. I have always thought the Gailey hire was very similiar to Lewis. He is better with the press, alumni that GOL was and that was the reason for the hire vs the ability to win games.

Re: Did anyone think tonight\'s game would be THIS bad?

I'm a realist. This Tech team has had a nasty tendency to go in streaks. Last years heart breakers... the total domination of most everybody the year before.

When it went downhill, I fully expected it to keep on.

I even bet with Maryland to take the spread.

IMHO... Bilbo is the x-factor, and why he remains to get benched after doing things better than a struggling starter is beyond me. Of course... it's not like Bilbo is a newbie... he should have known the playbook a longgggggg time ago. I hope Bilbo gets motivated by being benched for good play... motivated enough to memorize the playbook and do what he needs to to impress the offensive powers at be.

goldmember, i'm with u about AJ. He had a better game tonight. He just got no help whatsoever from anyone. WR's acting like hot potato. Clinks looked good, but got hurt. Ace fumbled but a freshman is entitled to mistakes. AJ should never, ever, ever, run option.

D never got a rush on qb, who, by the way, did not look so hot either!

Just a sorry, sorry performance, but it all starts with hc, who, I do not think has respect of team.

Re: Did anyone think tonight\'s game would be THIS bad?

AJ was not consistant. As usual, many overthrown and underthrown passes. But hey, he didn't throw any interceptions. He also didn't throw any TD passes. He is the Main Drain on this pathetic offence.

After last night, I see why we don't run the option. Suggs CAN'T run the option. By definition, an option is where the QB runs out, and has the option to pitch to another player. When you pitch after taking 1 step, it's not an option anymore. Maryland read this, and never even went for Suggs.

I think the D just got worn down in the second half. They looked great in the first half. At the end of the third, they were missing tackles left and right. That Downs guy is OK, but we made him look like Barry Sanders.

It was as if the Fridge knew exactly what play we were running, and what D we were using. When we blitzed from the right, the QB rolled left. If we bootlegged right, they had defenders waiting to meet AJ. Maryland really put it together for this game.

Re: Did anyone think tonight\'s game would be THIS bad?

The question was, Did anyone think the game would
be this bad? Yes I did. I posted as much earlier
this week when I picked Maryland to win 42-24.
Even I was surprised that our offense would be this inept. Suggs has the ball on the Maryland two yard
line 3rd and goal and promptly fumbled and we recovered on the six. We come away empty and every player on the team seems to expect AJ to implode. It could have been worse when a Maryland DB stepped in front of a Tech receiver and fumbled an interception on Tech's eight yard line.
This team is SICK. For the second time this season
a special teams player stands on the one yard line
and watches a punt bounce into the EZ. This all comes down to coaching or rather not being coached.Coach DULL has lost this team.
