and I quote

"We're not going to short change these guys. When we recruited them, we didn't say, Hey, you're going to come here and be average and be mediocre"

If Braine had articulated his thoughts better I think he would have audibly connected the Hill to low athletic expectations. Of course, he couldn't have said that at the time.
As much as DB deserves great fault, and should be allowed to leave immediately, I think that the words he spoke at the press conference will be better understood soon enough.

Its good to see those words by PH. He definitely owns the biggest set of anyone in Tech Athletics.
He has the personality and emotion characteristics of the guy we need as next AD.

YES,

he did a take a shot at what Braine said.
He wants to distance himself from the remark, which isn't true, at all, for any sport @ GT.
It wasn't but a coupla yrs ago that most in the know 'thought' that GT would never win in women's sports.
Football is a winner & is only a few top-notch recruits away from top-of-the-ACC. Now, the real truth is that Gailey may not be able to ever get enough top-notch recruits together so Braine is covering his fanny for extending Chan.

Hewitt is saying 'I can get enough top-notch recruits to challenge on a national level'!

Re: YES,

Given PH's comment about staying at GT as long as DB was AD, I wonder how he feels about the current situation and DB now?

Re: YES,

"...covering his fanny for extending Chan."

That is the #1 reason that he said GT would only win 9 or 10 games occasionally. He KNOWS that Chan cannot do better than average at best so he has to justify extension. You are right on GT Ace!

Re: YES,

Well in fairness remember that they probably knew what was coming from the NCAA. Accordingly, when you look at teams on probation you'll see that 9 win seasons don't happen very often.
