Go Jacckets!!!! Beat the criminals

He can't. He played too many games.

Plus you can't even apply until after the season is over. So we wouldn't know anyway.

Does anyone know if Sampson is going to get some kind of medical redshirt?
I think he played sparingly in a couple of games and they apparently determined he needed more work in the weight room (upper body strength). I was actually surprised that they played him before they played PJ Daniels. I hope they haven't completely wasted Sampson's freshman year.

Like Kirbee said he can't apply till after the seaodsn, but he can try and make an appeal for a Medical Redshirt; however, those are usually kinda hard to get (over 3 games played), but it does happen, ala Daniel Cobb (not exactly the same, but close).

Beeware, why are you being hard-headed. Do you actually think there is any reason Sampson would get a MEDICAL REDSHIRT? Why would you ask such a question except to be a smart-a$$. O'Brien thought he was the second best running back on the team, and with Clinkscale hurt for UNC game he made the decision of using Sampson over the Walk-on Daniels. Down to 3 RB's, you're going to take drastic measures. Can you get over that?

beernutts,
You have completely and totally mis-interpreted my post. I merely asked the question if Sampson possibly could get a medical redshirt. He has only played 2 games and only had 6 rushing attempts. He has not played recently to my knowledge. I hope he can get a medical redshirt of some sort (like Bilbo did) so that he doesn't have a year of eligibility wasted for 2 games. Sidney Ford lost his first year of eligibility with very little playing time. I hope the same fate doesn't befall Sampson. This was not blaming anyone.
It was an honest question anticipating an honest answer. No more and no less.

I guess the penalty for being a dildo on this board is that nobody takes you seriously.....huh Beeware?

Beeware, to get a Medical Redshirt you have to have something atleast related to an injury (thus the Medical part). And you can't use the excuse "He wasn't strong enough."

I hope they haven't completely wasted Sampson's freshman year.[/QB]
<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">It's little jabs here and there like this at the coaching staff that cause posters to interpret things the way they do. You're overly negative towards the current GT coaching staff while being overly positive about the past GT coaching staff. This is just my opinion.

Your question in regards to Sampson is a good one. I can see why Sampson played in the situations he did. Others have stepped up in a big way now.

I'm sure that Sampson's experiences taught him a lot. Believe it will benefit him when his time comes again. I truly believe his day will come.

Go Jackets!

Sampson cannot get a redshirt for this season. He played after the 3rd game. Very similar to the way we wasted Tidwell-Neal's rs last season.
Hollings, after next season which is his Sr yr, may petition the NCAA for a medical rs because of the season ending knee injury after 4 games of his Jr yr. He would stand a pretty good chance of getting it because he did not rs & played almost not at all his Fr & So yr.
Hollings will be the one who decides if he wants to even petition for a 5th season. He may want to move on with his life or move to pro ball.
Hollings will go into next season as a Sr.
If you are injured before the 3rd game, it's automatic that you would get a medical rs, but since it was late in the 4th game, he must petition the NCAA after his Sr yr, if he wants to come back for a 5th season.
