Did we run any inside veer?

I don’t remember any calls from what was our base play. The rocket is mostly gone too, although TM is too slow on that pitch for it to work.

Wracer, I think we probably ran the mid line or veer, whatever you want to call it, maybe a half a dozen times.....maybe more. Seems like most times we ran it and pitched the ball we had some success a good portion of the time. The rocket toss does seem to have disappeared though.

I definitely saw it a few times, but not nearly as much as the past. We are just not as good at running the triple option right now.

I also think TM is seeing things in the D that just aren’t there. Several passes where he and the WR were on different pages. Several times when the clock ran down and he decides to audible. We barely got off about 4 plays. And then the disastrous audible turned time out in the red zone where he is trying to motion the Aback.

Seems like we should have run more midline and belly. Both usf and pitt are stacking the line just outside the DE and forcing a quick pitch. They are also lining up the DE inside from what I can tell.

also miss that B-Back wheel route. Don't recall seeing that much or the rocket toss.

gotta complete passes when they stack 9 in the box. If PITT does it, you can be sure VPI, Miami, Clemson, and mutts will...with much better personnel.

I've said this for the last few years. The whole "no play sheet" thing....it's getting old. I know CPJ is smart and is a master of his offense, but I think he gets lost in the game and "forgets" some plays:

- We don't have great WRs, but when they have a 10 yard cushion, we should be able to complete a smoke route...we rarely try.
- WR reverse to keep the safeties honest.....I feel like this should be once every game or two
- Rocket toss - where did it go yesterday?
- Backside drag route to A-Backs?
- Belly - where was it yesterday?

Calling plays is tough (even with a play sheet). I have been an OC for 15 years. Now, try to yell about special teams, work the refs, think about substitution patterns for particular situations, make adjustments.....why no use a sheet? It's narcissism.

Remember the blocking rules changes that have occurred repeatedly over the past decade. They further reduce the margin of error. iiwii

We have thrown a few smoke routes. I am pretty sure at least 1 for an incompletion against usf. TM is a really poor passer.

I think the rocket is not called because TM is not good at that pitch. We ran it with TO. Without the rocket, the twirling toss counter play with either the bb dive to the backside or qb scrabble are gone. I don’t know what those plays are called.

And I think cpj saying everything needs to be perfect doesn’t refer to execution for the play to work. It seems this team folds at the slightest adversity.

Play calling ain’t the problem. You’ve got to be able to take what the defense gives. And we can’t. That’s on Paul but the failure comes at a different stage of the coaching process.

Yeah, TM was a HS QB. He should be able to make those throws to Camp 100% of the time. CPJ needs to coach him up or sit him down.

Yep, it's weird that we're complaining that CPJ can't coach up a QB, when that was the primary knock on CCG, too. I guess coaching up QB's is really pretty hard.

Cpj is going to die of the same poison as ccg. A practice qb who just can’t finish in a game.
