I’m pretty sure the band thing is true. They had planned to send a small band but were told that they still had social distance rules in the stadium and maybe that even their band wasn’t playing.

I don’t remember the exact reason but they decided to not go at all.

Years ago the Virginia band used to do satirical, sophomoric things that half the people in the stands didn't understand. I don't know if that's still their schtick or not. I do remember after a game with Tech a few years ago there were about 20 complaints on this very board complaining about the Virginia band.

Speaking of which, has anybody noticed that KSU was the only team so far to bring a band to BDS? UNC didn't even bring theirs to the Benz.

UGA is supposed to bring their band but is not supposed to be the full band and not perform at Half-time. FWIW.

Tech took full band to Clemson and is taking a large band to ND.

UVA switched to a more traditional marching band a few years ago.

They still have one of the more underrated pregames I’ve experienced. I’m not really sure why their attendance has fallen off so dramatically in the last decade or so, though.

I'm glad the band is getting to go to ND. Had a great experience there in '97.

I only remember 3 things about opposing bands.

1. The SCSt dance team majors in pre-stripping
2. The Maryland band knows marching down fraternity row after a game is a bad idea
3. The FSU flaming baton twirling girl tamed our student section

People didn’t like that they didn’t wear band uniforms. They didn’t march they just ran out on the field. They did off beat skits. I actually liked it. It was many years ago when I just lurked and didn’t comment on things. It might have even been on the Hive

Where did you find the info? I looked all over their football site and couldn’t find anything current and definitive.

After watching that 1990 show, the 2021 game is bound to be a letdown, but I hope we go in there and kick some butt.
