Disappointed in pass defense and TOs.

Our safeties are too slow, our LBs don't contribute to pass defense as they neither cover or get pressure, and we had a bunch of key players injured. I really hope to never see 3 man front play that much of a role in our game plan.
 
Yeah, when I saw the 3 man front I knew we were in trouble. Collins has stabilized the offense and has them on their way. And he’s done it thru recruiting - Brown, Griffin, Gibbs, Sims, Johnson, Williams, Ezzard, etc. The next step for GT is to get DLinemen and Linebackers. They are better than last year (just by being older), but we need to get better thru recruiting. I can’t remember when we last had an All ACC caliber linebacker. Today our LB’s were non factors. Knight is our best one and he’s a converted QB. I really hope Collins can get some 4 star defensive players.

Sims just needs more work. He is very good. He made some mistakes, obviously, a few weren't really on him.
Gibbs is outstanding.
The refs were horrible and I hate people who complain about refs. Several uncalled PI's. Many uncalled hold calls. One hold the OL literally tackled our DE
Our kickers are devestatingly bad, although kickoffs were good.
I know Curry works hard, but he is so slow.

Unfair to say that all of our kickers were bad. Only one has been blocked repeatedly. Stewart made the PATs he was asked to make.
 
Had to be an AAC ref crew. Very onesided called game. Sims is the man but he will make freshman mistakes for a while yet. Gibbs is awesome. DB very disappointing indeed. When they did cover well they didn't play the ball and gave up the reception anyway. UCF is a good team. QB and receivers are top notch.
 
We got beat by 3 teams today: UCF, the refs, and ourselves. Can't win when you're playing against all three. We probably won't see a ref team as bad as the one we had today but we really need to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. I expect some of it from Sims because he just doesn't have the experience. If we clean up our sloppy play, we can do some big things this year.

You didn't hear that Curry was pre-season All-conf LB. (like the saying-just because you are old ,it doesn't make you wise)
 
Sims will need to process faster to get better. That will come with more film study, practice, and live reps. He missed guys that were open and also threw the ball late to already open guys whose window closed.

We had too many of their WRs get behind us.

All of our mistakes our fixable. Will we be world beaters if we get em fixed? Not this season, the future is definitely bright however.

Ideally, we should be good enough on defense to play base and win the play often.
 
How many damn injuries do we have? Weren’t we missing 5 or 6 starters yesterday?
