GT Ace, there is no reason not to bring in subs, even if they are not up to the caliber of the first unit. It is still imperative to bring in substitutes to rest tired starters.

There is absolutely no way a tired starter is as effective as a fresh substitute of less quality. If a defensive coach is not substituting, he is defeating the purpose of having depth.

I stated last year and I have stated again this year, immediately after the BYU game, I am not enamored with the coaching of Tenuta. He is just like O'Leary, he goes all out to defend the run at the expense of pass defense. A good defensive coach is good against both the run and the pass.

GT Dean-Guess u missed a chance to contribute something.
Ahso-that's what I mean. Even for 1 series. If the opponent makes a coupla 1st dns, bring the starter back, but at least, he had a coupla extra breaths.
Surely Reis could do 1 series @ S, Davis @ CB, Scott @ CB, Wheeler @ LB, etc. If they ain't good enough for 1 series....
FSU played 30 on D last nite & it dramatically showed in the 4th Qtr. FSU still blitzing & coming with fire, GT passively sitting back.
We may be sending a bad message to recruits; if u don't start, u don't play.

GT Ace - are you being tounge-in-cheek, or serious?

Reis played (he has played in all games and had 1/2 a sack against AU) - recall his concussion??

Davis also played on Nickle. He was in the game late in the 4th Q.

Ditto Wheeler. He was in the game all throughout, as he has been getting significant time in all of our games.

You are right - we are sending a message - if you can contribute, you will play for CG! Note the true freshman at QB, R-FR at WR, 2 sophmores at RB, another sophmore at OT - and that's just on "O" !

Odd to complain about players not playing, wehn in fact the same ones were on the field, in big crunch time! Surely you were watching the game!

I mean that our Defensive starters are playing the entire game. No wonder we're so worn out in the 4th qtr or when our Offense doesn't give us some 1st downs each series. Tech has worn down vs BYU & FSU.
We bring in Brezina @ DT for Wrotto, but Henderson, Wilkinson & Parker play the whole game. Evidently our coaches don't even feel comfortable letting another player in for a series. Isn't somebody ready?
We bring in Dennis Davis & Chris Reis on our nickel/dime packages, but Cox, Houston, Butler & Landry are in for every play.
Fox, Smith & Brown do every play @ LB. Only Brown comes out on our nickel packs. Phillip Wheeler filled in for a few LB plays when Brown had to leave with injury. Thank goodness Wheeler is able to help a little.
Why is there absolutely no one who does a position play other than our starters? Why don't we have anyone pushing the starters?

I guess you missed the spring "flunk-gate"? Not to mention GGathers not playing and Newberry ACL injury.
