They had the perfect opportunity to play the Theme from Shaft last Thursday, and didn't.

They did use that in one of the video highlight as background music, so credit there.

Huh? I must be missing a joke... Though I get the shaft reference to Ma Tech. I thought their version of "Theme from Shaft" rocked. It was much better than the P-Funk tune, the supreme funkiness of which didn't transcobobutripindescolate very well to the marching band format!

BTW, anyone know what's that Dr.-Who-like theme they're playin' all the time? I don't recall it...

Don't know a lot about the band, never have, guess I never will. Back when our daughter was in her HS band, I stayed in the dog house since I rarely ever/never went to a band competition. I was continually reminded of how I rarely ever/never missed our son's football games, etc.

The band players sure do wear some pretty clothes though and I'll bet they cost a lot.

For what they cost, I would imagine GTAA could add some more seats around the 50 yard line.

So long as they remember how to play the "Ramblin Wreck Song" & "Up With The White & Gold", I'll be just fine.

I think they're saying that Shaft would have fit into the whole seventies theme of that night.

Still, I would think GT administrators would want to shed that image. To their credit, the once brutal Physics and CS classes have become immensely more forgiving.

They didn't do "Theme from Shaft." They did "Theme from <-something else->."

Maybe it was the SWAT theme they did second, right after the P-Funk opener. Yeah that's it. SWAT, not Shaft. An excellent choice. Although if they played Shaft, they could have referenced Philip Wheeler at the part in the song where it goes "He's a bad mutha... Shut yo mouth!"
