I read the following on DJ:

"I'm going to Georgia Tech this weekend. Their coaches are on me hard, so I'm going to give them a look.

Donley will base his decision on two primary factors.

"Academic reputation and athletic reputation," he said. "Those are really the two big things for me."

In addition to us, DJ is being heavily recruited by Georgia, Florida, FSU, Purdue, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Notre Dame. Based on the things he says he looking for, how do you think we stack up in his recruitment?

I think it's too early to tell with him.

It definitely seems like we're gaining ground with him, considering how he was a big UGA lean when recruiting started. I thought he was a lost cause for us, but considering he's visiting us and the coaches are still on him, I definitely like our chances more.

P.S.
Rivals usually doesn't like it when you cut & paste their premium content.

It would be a first for any school instead of UGA to land a kid from Charlton County (aka UGA High School). You never know though. Note that he said the only reason GT has snuck into the top 5 was our coaches were working him so hard he had to come see a practice!

Glad to hear we are recruiting kids from S. Ga, there is a ton of talent down here. Hate to say it but 99% of the counties down here are Uga High Schools. I use to live in Clinch County (huge rivals with Charlton) and for every Tech fan there are 40 Ga fans.

Things aint much different here in Hazelhurst, despite being home of the Jeff Davis County Yellow Jackes. Fact is people down here refer to anything north of Macon as Yankee Land. Everyone down here says the best thing about Atlanta is seeing it in your rear-view mirror.

Heck...things are not much different in Atlanta! I read somewhere that there were more Auburn grads in metro Atlanta than GT grads.

There has been at least one from Charlton that went to UF in the late 90's; I think his number was #99 and he was a starter. I can't remember his name right off hand but seems like maybe it was a Hughes or something similar.

UF signed Justin Williams this year. Another was Henry McMillian that signed with FL after being unable to get in Ugag.

Isn't UGAg north of Tech and don't they play that yankee march after 1st down, 2nd down, 3rd down, 4th down, TD, etc...?

Didn't they copy their mascot from a yankee school?

Didn't they copy their logo from a yankee NFL team?

Doesn't Tech have a flouish in "Up with the White and Gold" from "Dixie"?

Why would anyone from down there play at that yankee school?

Even though you responded to me and put that quote as your reference, the quote did not come from me. Strange.

I didn't say it was rational, I just said how people down here feel. For some reason Ugag gets a pass b/c its in a small town unlike Atl. I would bet 90% of Ugag fans down here have no idea and could care less the "G" they use is from Green Bay. Of those 90% I bet over 80% didn't go to Ugag still they will claim, "no Ugag had it before Green Bay".

There is no sense to it, fact is they like Ugag b/c one, they win in football, two, no-one will ever call you on why you like them, three, people that have gone there loved it (unlike Tech where for 4 years you struggle), and four, Hot women (nuff said).

DJ Donley was the difference in the Calhoun-Charlton County state championship game. He had an unbelievable game as a wide reciever. He used athlectic ability and brains to find seams and get open for crucial catches against the Yellow Jackets. A smart player if that game is any indication.
