that do away with SAT apply to current recruits. I think I saw where it went into effect Aug '03 so may not apply to this crop.

Everybody notice where the Dawgs always sign about 5 extra players due to having known nonQ's? They wisk them off to Hargrove Military or somewhere where they get their scores up then transfer to UGAg. Net effect is that the Dawgs tie up more players.

When the SAT is dropped, won't it reduce the number of players that teams hide like this so that UGA will have to limit themselves to the 25 signees, leaving more for the rest of us?

I wonder if they shot their wad too early with 20 commits already and many blue chips still waiting to go...

That's what they did with Leonard Pope. He signed last year and was a non-qualifier. He's at Hartgrave Military this year. I think the dropping of the SAT's will benifit UGA perhaps more than any other school in the country. They have a president in Michael Adams who admitted Tony Cole even though he didn't qaulify under UGA's old academic standards. UGA will be able to recruit and get into school the academically questionable students that were previous non-qualifiers. Granted, they were able to do like Pope with some of them. However, others ended up going to other schools. UGA usually lost 5 to 10 spots in the recruiting rankings because of non-qualifiers. With the new rules and Adams as president, UGA can take just about anybody now. With our administration raising standards because they are worried about the phony NCAA graduation standards, it will be almost impossible to keep up with UGA. I just wish the administration and some sports reporters would look at what these players are getting their degrees in (Recreational Management, Exercise Science, Family Studies, etc) instead of looking at graduation rates in majors that don't qualify you for a job in the real world.
