Does anything this staff does with regard to recruiting make any sense?

We currently stand at 14 commitments, 2 or 3 of which are continuing to take visits. We've got our full allotment of 25 scholarsips available. We've taken WAY under the maximum allowable visits this fall. If we are honest with ourselves, about 1/3 of our commitments are 'project' type players. Yet we refuse to offer players like Gaston. We never offered many quality players from our own state like Johnson, Jackson, Price, etc.. We've pulled offers from quality players like Choice.

I am begining to think that this staff doesn't know it's proverbial ass from a whole in the ground.

I think the goal here is to go 0-12. I think this staff is committed to making that happen.

Lighten up, Goldmember. Until February 5, we won't know how this will end up.

Absolutely...
These guys no NOTHING about football or evaluating talent. I have it from a good source that the whole staff comes in around 10:30 or so, eats breakfast together, then retires to there respective offices for a mid-morning nap.

Not until one of them picks up the daily paper do they remember that it is recruiting time. At that point Chan makes the usual daily announcement that goes something like this: "Guys, find the best players that we have contacted and pull the offers. Furthermore, if we determine it's best to sign our allotment, then lets sign less. Let's REFUSE to offer to the better players out there, especially those from Georgia who could qualify--remember, we don't want them. Guys, I've got to admit I don't know jack, I wish that we could get help from the fans even though they haven't seen most of these guys in person, or talked to them or their coaches; they would know what to do. And lastly gentlemen, could one of you help me out here, I've really got to $&!^ and I don't know my ass from a whole (sic) in the ground."

***In case you needed to know, this is "tongue in cheek" (no proverbial pun intended)

spellingbee,
Thanks for pointing out that your post was TIC....otherwise there would have been absolutely no way to tell.
It certainly sounded completely believable.

beeware, I actually wrote down what I thought your reply to what I posted would be, and I pretty much nailed it.

I know you don't mind that you are predictable, and I don't mind your viewpoints.

If you are ever "out of pocket" for any reason, let me know and I'll take over posting duties for you; no one would be able to tell. But I might would sabotage your whole persona and slip a little "love" into one of your posts--the board would implode.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">The point is that, at this point, there is no point in discussing the points you make, which are pointedly premature.

What is it you wish to accomplish? Obviously you wish CCG wasn't here anymore; do you think that if you rant enough then he will take your hint and leave? Do you think his goal is to run the program in the ground? Do you think you know more than him and his staff?

Beeware you are a bad man !!!! I almost feel out of my chair laughing over your response to spellingbee.

I hope everyone knows that if we did not care about Tech and the football program we would not waste our time reading and contributing to these boards.

We all want to see Tech succeed. I'm sure Coach Gailey wants the same. It's just unfortunate things are where they are. I hope they get better sooner rather than later.

Go Jackets!

G.M. I agree with you completely and also with my long time friend (although perhaps only one way established) beeware.
I am nervous, not content, skiddish, not satisfied with outward progression, pessimistic,
heck, I have even become paranoid.......but I am still hopeing that this staff calms our fears, etc. \
We all (I firmly believe) want the same thing: Georgia Tech Football Success.....Your comments are very poignant and we are obviously on the
same team. But, yes, some of are very concerned. I for one hope that this staff smashes our trepidation (whatever that means). Bottom line: Let's worry (that is okay) and if we have reason to in the end attack Chan and Company, okay. But for now, though concerned like you, " I will hide and watch".......

I'm glad you want Chan and Co. to succeed, goldmember.

No one can tell you anything at this point that's going to make you happy in my opinion. Too many assumptions are made into facts on the boards through what is said on recruiting services and so called "inside info". We're our own worst enemy in that regard. From reading your post I'd say you've made up your mind on a lot of things. You're going to go on what you want to go on in my opinion. Not faulting you. It's easy to do in recruiting season. We all probably do one way or another.

You want people to make you believe or something? What is it you want to hear? What is going to set you alright with the GT World?

What is it you want to make sense? Yes, I read your post. It's your opinion, but there is speculation in your opinion in my opinion.
wink.gif
If you're honest with yourself as you've said regarding your 1/3 statement for example, you don't know much about any of the players you've commented on do you?

I honestly don't believe there is anything that anyone can tell you to make you feel better. By the statement you just made that's my opinion. Maybe your mind can be made up because of what's writen on a message board and I'm way off here.

Good luck goldmember.

You're starting to think what you stated about the Georgia Tech Coaching Staff?? Be interesting to see if someone posts something on the board because of your post that will answer your question and possibly change your mind. I doubt it though.

The coaching staff will just have to prove themselves to you. What anyone posts here in my opinion won't make a hill of beans difference in your thinking.

"perverbial"...? Interesting comment you made goldmember.

Go Jackets! By the way that includes even the people on this board that make comments I don't like, Coach Gailey, his staff, the players, and entire GT family.

As far as recruiting goes, if techrod is happy, I'm happy. He seems to pay very close attention, and apparently has for a long time.

Beeware, as we all know, has a kind of obsessive-compulsive disorder re CG and DB. And since you doodlehead pubs voted for whatiznewtax, we can't get help for poor Beeware, we have to use that money expanding the Governor's Suite in the Capitol Building.

Doggone it belly,

You have gone and done it again. Good clean punch! You inflict and make the recipient laugh.
Thanks.....still scared to visit you; you may make me a democrat.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I don't question that jerry; I know we are all Tech fans tried and true. In fact I have come to defense of those whose loyalty has been questioned. We all want the same thing. It just seems, in the waiting, that stingtalkers either go "gloom and doom" or cautious optimism.

I would really like for someone to make me feel better. I would very much like for Chan and co. to succeed. We've done a lot of seemingly incosistent, stupid things during the recruiting season. I just can' make any sense out of any of it, I am hoping that someone else on here can.
<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I'm with you, gold. I want to feel better too, and there are some things I don't understand either. Unfortunately, no one will be able to make any sense out of it all until it's said and done.

and finally,

spellingbee,
Thanks for the offer.
By the way, if I wrote the sentence quoted above, in your English class, would you count off for spelling?
<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Touche! That was a BAD spelling error.

Actually, if you were in my Eng. class, I would let you slide since your a Tech fan

Belly's too liberal to be a democrat. Maybe it's his old age. Being an OF isn't easy.

Belly, HA HA You've outdone yourself this time. No one can say so much in so few words. That's a real gift you have there.

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">Great post...

Your question was, does Chan's recruiting strategy make sense. It makes about as much sense
as his calling a timeout at clemson 20 seconds before half after clemson had sent their kicking team in to try a FG and with time to reorganize they went for a TD. Those 4 points were the points they won by 23-19. Same thing in the bowl game with tech with the ball on our own 20 leading 7-6 with 20 seconds to go in the half and calls for a pass play that was returned for a TD.
Kim King told him on the air that this call was what beat us.
This is a long and convoluted way of saying that his recruiting strategy is very, very STRANGE.
Tech needing good players and turn down CHOICE the RB and David Price the number 34 player in Florida and a 315 pound OL. To compound the issue we need big linemen badly. Yes indeed, he is an odd duck.
