It's got a totally different feel to me because info given out isn't the same. The way we're going about recruiting seems to be differnt. With that being said seems it's too early to tell.
Since internet days there really isn't as much info on our recruits this year. I believe a lot of that has to do with the staff and how they are recruiting keeping things as quiet as they can. Just my impression.
One thing to me that's important which both staffs did and have done is recruiting to needs in the program. Just an observation.
I've followed recruiting since really Curry years. Not like some do now like MasterB, who really takes recruiting as a serious hobbie.
Said this on Hive; Fitting the needs of your program which deals with on the field as well as off is what's important. To me, not trying to be pompous, we're not UGA, Miami, UT, Vandy, TX, OK, FSU, UVA, or UNC. We're Georgia Tech. Feel stongly that this is a unique place. Know that other schools are as well and all want the best athletes, but few with the rich history, great scholastics, onfield competition of a major confrence that can bring a national championship. It all depends on the young man and what he wants out of life as a football player and schooling. GT isn't for everyone. Believe wholeheartedly that this institution can give a great deal to a student athlete that see's the vision of what GT is all about.
O'leary and his staff did a good job of finding a lot of young men that fit here. As a staff they sold GT well. Sense this staff is doing the same thing.
One thing we've had in past is a good deal of players leaving the program. There will always be some in any program because it's not a perfect world, but this is something I believe we need to do a better job at.
Love what I see so far in this class although we've got a long way to go till signing day. The proof in the pudding will be years down the road.
On paper this class seems as good as any of the better classes we've had at this time. Have holes to fill though.
I don't get into the ratings and all that. There are just too many players that aren't ranked high or offered by many of the top schools that turn out to be great players. Some say that isn't the rule, but if you find the right players for your system and program it can be the rule in my opinion.
