Does PJ Keep Tenuta?

Tenuta obviously wanted the HC job. Wouldn't you like to be a fly on the wall when those two sit down together? It's not unusual for a new HC to replace a proven coordinator with the stated reasoning that he felt that another individual was a better fit with his philosophy. Which really means, "I didn't trust that S.O.B. to be completely loyal, yada yada...." I think Tenuta is a pretty good individual, but one must wonder.

Ok, so if Tenuta does go, is Giff the DC?

IIUC, Tenuta is still under contract to GT. I haven't heard his name for any HC job. So he can take a lateral, possibly fishing for more money.

When I say he is under contract, it means we have to pay him if we dismiss him. He is very expensive, so it doesn't make sense to pay a great DC not to coach and then have to pay a DC too.

PJ seems to be totally focused on the offense. That makes me think that he would be very happy to have a very competent DC like Tenuta AND that he would be happy to leave Tenuta alone.

I would be very surprised if this isn't totally John's decision. He should try to fish out a huge raise out of one of the high profile openings. If the fit isn't perfect he should help us win a championship here. That will be the best way to get a HC job.

This is the most interesting bit. Tenuta can technically stay if he choses to whether PJ wants him here or not. He could force PJ to ask Dan to buy him out.

Should be fun to watch.

Twould be wise to keep him. I think JT's heavy-blitz style meshes well with PJ's O philosophy.

Yup. JT sells out to get stops, and PJ only asks for 3 stops per game, figures the other team can't stop him any more than that. It's a recipe for success.

I believe '3 stop' remark was only for a single half, either way, it was a one-time remark, it shouldn't be further perpetrated as his philosophy.

Even so, "get me X stops" sounds like marching orders for Tenuta - marching orders he can reasonably follow, instead of "stop them every drive for the rest of the game while I go 3 and out over and over trying to eat clock."

he is under contract through spring or summer 08 I believe....

he would have to make the choice to leave. We told him we want him. If he decides to leave he can....no problems..and we don't owe him anything. If we say bye...we buyout the remaining contract.
