Although presumed to be a WR on offense, it appears that Reese will start his Ga Tech journey on defense. CB certainly seems to be a place GT needs some more players while the WR position looks to be in very good hands:D .
Gailey is letting Nix do the OC thing so far. That should be good to the overall strength of the coaching staff, I think. Here's the piece from the Macon Tel.

Thanks for the news on Reese.

My thrill in articles like this is seeing CG speak about his role in the bigger picture.
This is very good news for GT football!

Its only good news if your new OC is actually worth a dang.

U do need a good OC

I reckon the point is that Gailey will have much more time for managing different aspects. E.G. now it's appears very, very good that Gailey is tremendously more involved with the Special Teams. As bad as the O was last yr, the STs were worse, & imo, caused us as bad if not worse field position as the O mistakes did. Ntm the ton of missed FGs that cost us valuable pts.
Just look at Beamer of VT taking 'special' pride in his STs. Also, remember that O'L did most of his practice coaching screaming at the kickers to get them past getting unnerved. Anyway, I sure hope Nix is a good OC & that Gailey's freed up time will help the STs.
It sure seems to have helped Gailey's ability to meet with & give interviews to the media. GT's PR relations from the HC looks to be on a dramatic upswing. Coach Chan seems to be noticing what is going on all over the practice field much better. Maybe it's helping the overall view for Coach G.

I think there is a direct correlation between your special teams and your overall talent level and depth of talent. I think it's obvious we were not real deep in good talent last year. I hope it changes this year.

Re: U do need a good OC

I think depth is important but it's also a lot about schemes. Also, many teams use first line guys on STs. But there's no conincidence that some schools always have good sts. They coach them, and emphasize them. Hopefully that's more of what we see this year.
