Don\'t Forget The 69 Team...

I remember them finishing pretty strong playing #1 USC tough and shutting out UGA and look what happened the next year. Now that team had the never say die attitude and guys that were tough as nails ie.. Rock Perdoni, Smylie Gerhardt, Brad Bourne. Those guys were TOUGH. Y'all think this team has that intestinal fortitude?????

Actually, you don't even have to go that far.

Remember the 2000 team?

The VaTech game got canceled, then we came back
and barely beat Central Florida (a game we should have lost) with a new quarter back, Goose.
We had a TERRIBLE first game.

We then lost to FSU (only by 5 points) and lost
to NC State (after beating Navy)
(on a pass that Watkins should
have caught. Said so many curse words in the
SFO airport, I think people thought I was
possessed). Then ran of 7 straight to get
to the Peach Bowl, which we lost because
of 5 turnovers (sound familiar).

So, a bad first game doesn't mean a terrible
season. However, that 2000 team had the fridge
as its offensive of coordinator, so, well,
that could make a difference.

All I hope to see is improvement in the team on a game-by-game basis. If we get skunked by Auburn next week, then it could get ugly.

I can't speak for SouthGa, but I wasn't trying to be funny at all, I was trying to be positive.

Sorry if I gave that impression. I just feel
like a lot of positives can be taken from
last nights game.

I still think it is going to be a tough season,
but we shouldn't quit on the team now.
