So Dinich put up another stellar article on her blog today about Duke; saying they were going to surprise people and who out of these 5 teams is going to fall to lowly, yet up and coming Poo Devils. Yeah, they’ve gotten better, and yeah they have Cutcliffe and all, but I just don’t see it. If any and every team in the ACC keeps they’re heads Duke will fall. Does anyone else see this happening, or are they really on an upswing. Could they really pull off 5... 6 wins this season?

Here’s the link: http://myespn.go.com/blogs/acc/0-6-266/Who-will-fall-to-Duke-in--09-.html

I'd say they could take down clemson this year, but they aren't playing each other. Out of their schedule it seems:

Richmond - W
Army - W
Kansas - Probable L, but a chance
NC Central - W
VT - L
NCSU - Probable L, but a chance
Maryland - a chance
UVA - a chance
UNC - Probable L, but a chance
GT - L
Miami - L (can't hang w atheletes)
Wake - Probable L, but a chance

We'll they have 3 wins in the bag. They'll be lucky to get one more. Then the next two easiest are UVA (who they beat last year and will be gunning for them now) and Maryland. I don't see them beating any of the others, barring an absolute fluke (i.e. Russell Wilson/Riley Skinner getting hurt, Jay Cutler type efforts for Duke's QB).

Duke played us tough for a half. But that was early in the season and we were starting our backup QB. By the end of the year, their depth will be showning.

I think they have the best chance of knocking off NCSt or Maryland.

I agree with the above. Dook still does not have the horses thanks to the Ted Roof disaster. It will take several strong recruiting classes by Cutliff before they can become a winner again.

I cant wait to see how Roof does as the DC at Auburn.

Maryland has more of a tendency to lay big fat eggs than we do. They're the most up and down team I've ever seen. Who knows how that game will turn out, but it could end up being a rout by Duke if Maryland decides to take that day off (and there's a 50/50 chance of it).

I thought that we could score on Duke (more than 3 at the half), but I thought Duke would at least score A POINT on us. Especially with Cutcliffe running the show with an experienced QB at the helm.

Duke had a few very close games last season and I think they would have had a couple of ACC wins if Requan Boyette wasn't injured early in the season.

On top of that, if only Thaddeus Lewis didn't get injured against Clemson, Duke stood a better chance at beating VPI (considering how VPI played that game) which would have helped us get to the ACC Championship game. Duke's backup QB Zack Asack sucked so bad that they decided to move him to safety (though he got kicked off the team soon after).

Eron Riley graduating is a huge loss to Duke's offense though. I don't see them winning any ACC games without some of their WRs stepping up to the plate to fill in Eron's shoes.

I'd agree with her, if she hadn't placed her mouth firmly around Maimi's penis. If there's any team that should be on the look out for a Duke loss, it's Miami. That program is on the cusp of total breakdown. That school has survived purely on it's athletic superiority against teams like Duke. Why are we even listed? Tech gave Duke their worst beatdown last season. Duke managed to put up 31 against the great and mighty Miami defense. Duke was winning that game at half time.

That said, which three ACC teams does she honestly believe they'll beat from her list?

Just trying to help...

And we were only up by 3 at the half.

We play Duke after 11 straight weeks of play. We play Duke on the road (and we don't exactly shine in Durham). By the 11th game last season, our defense was hit or miss.

And, the Duke game might not have any bearing on our ACC title hopes.

I can see us listed way down on the list of teams Duke could possibly beat.

Miami, however, should be solidly in the middle of that list. Talent or not, they will be breaking in a new OC and possibly a new HC (I don't know when the Duke/Miami game occurs).
